09-DEC-25 - INTERACT - 12/6/25 Per volunteer: Madeline was easy to leash and walk. She spent most of the time out playing in the splash pad. When she stopped, she ripped apart a toy. Madeline knows "sit".

25-NOV-25 - FOSTER - 11/05/25 11:52 Madi has been the most amazing girl to have with us! Every day I am so happy we decided to foster her, as she has been a light in all of our lives. She is super social with people, and practically everyone who works at our apartment knows her name and absolutely adores her, even to the point of having little gifts or treats ready for her when we come by that they got “just because they love her.” She is the type of dog that makes friends anywhere she goes, and people immediately fall in love with her. She is a very energetic dog but does surprisingly well in an apartment (like she is in now). That said, I would love to see her get the chance to have a yard of her own to run around in someday! We make sure to take her on at least one long walk every day (along with her other shorter walks throughout the day) and to our little park here so she can run around a bit and play fetch. Since our park is so small we try our best to take her to larger ones or on trails as much as possible and she absolutely loves it! As long as she gets a good amount of exercise throughout the day, she is usually pretty calm inside and just loves taking naps or hanging out on the balcony. In the bath she is super easy, letting you get anywhere you need, even in between her paw pads, with no trouble at all. Recently we took her to get her nails clipped again and just like last time we were told that she is one of the easiest dogs they’ve ever done. The 3-3-3 rule definitely proved true for her! When she first arrived she was already perfect, but could definitely be very overstimulated at times, but since she got comfortable she has been the most calm girl ever. Some things to note is if you are playing, she can get pretty mouthy and might play-bite (but is not aggressive at ALL!!) I want to be super super clear when I say that as to not give the wrong impression because when I say she is the sweetest, least aggressive angel towards people I mean it, she just likes to play a little rough sometimes lol. She is also not the biggest fan of small children, so due to those two things she would probably do best in a house with older highschool aged kids, or adults only. Other than that, she is a total dream dog. On the leash she still walks beautifully, rarely ever pulling, and in the house is very well behaved. When she first arrived she did have a few accidents in the house, within a couple days that completely stopped and hasn’t been an issue since. When we leave we do crate her just because she can be a little curious and may try to get in the trash or chew on things if she is super riled up before we leave, but she is super comfortable in the crate and will typically just nap while we're gone. And of course, Madi is the biggest cuddler! If you’re on the couch or in bed, expect her to come sit right on top of you ready to give kisses. She is truly the sweetest girl and will make the perfect companion for someone who wants a loving, loyal best friend.

21-AUG-25 - FOSTER - 08/21/25 10:01 Foster Note: Madeline has been an absolute joy to have with us! When we first picked her up she was so calm in the car, and we have noticed how much she loves car rides so we try to take her out with us at least once every day! At home she was a bit shy at first, but she has opened up so much since the first few days! She wants nothing more than affection and will always find a way to be as close as possible! She has so much personality and we've had so much fun getting to know her, she's the funniest! When its time to walk she doesn't pull at all, and always stays right by us. One of her favorite things has been to sit out on the balcony, whether we're out there or not. She absolutely loves watching everyone and if she's not out there you'll find her curled up in someone's bed. Everyone she's met has been obsessed with her, and pretty much everyone who works at my apartment building knows her name and gives her some love every time they see her! She's the most loving pup who deserves everything and more! I hope she finds her forever home soon!

05-AUG-25 - INTERACT - 08/05/25 14:03 Madeline had a dock diving session today with Courteous Canine! Madeline rode very well in the car, remaining politely in the back seat and not vocalizing. She walked well on leash using a harness with minimal to no pulling. Once in the yard, she greeted staff and the trainer with a loose posture. She was not interested in walking up the stairs to the pool area at first but was easily led up the stairs with a leash. Madeline showed little interest at first but was very attentive once the trainer began using the hose. Madeline would jump up and chomp at the water out of the hose. She did jump out of the pool area once at the beginning of the session to run around the yard. She walked into the pool and did well swimming around. She would jump off the lower level with encouragement from staff and trainer and showed interest in playing with fabric Kong toys and frisbees. Madeline does get a bit mouthy when stimulated with toys though allowed for all handling in the pool when being guided to the ramp. Madeline was vocal at times when being prompted to enter the pool. She did see other dogs on the opposite side of the fence but did not vocalize or attempt to jump from the pool area to approach. Once the pool session was complete, Madeline was easily harnessed and leashed and allowed to run the yard prior to leaving the facility. Returning to the shelter, Madeline remained in the backseat of the vehicle and rested. She allowed for all handling and petting from staff prior to exiting the vehicle. She did see an outdoor cat and appeared to fixate on them before staff redirected using leash input. Madeline then walked with a loose leash back to her kennel and returned without issue. mw

04-AUG-25 - INTERACT - When approached by a female staff member at her kennel, Madeline remained calm. An ACA did ask for assistance from another staff member to help secure her harness, but overall, she was easy to leash with only a slight pull on the leash. While walking to the yard, Madeline did lunge at another dog in a nearby kennel. However, once we arrived at the scent garden, she quickly relaxed. She explored the yard by running around and sniffing, and also played in the water. Madeline did not actively seek attention or pets from staff during the outing but remained easy to manage. While walking back to her kennel, Madeline lunged at a few dogs through their kennel gates but she was returned to her kennel without any further issues.

07-JUL-25 - INTERACT - Per volunteer: 7/03/25: Madeline (A2151827) was easy to slip leash; then stood calmly as I switched to the clip leash hanging at her kennel. She walked with a mild pull to the yard, sometimes starting to pull toward a dog; being easily redirected with the leash. She quickly ran to get a toy and run the yard. She played a number of rounds of fetch; sometimes having her drop before throwing another one and other times having her drop and sit for a treat first. She started out a little rough taking treats; so switched to having her sit calmly first. She played with all toys, showing no preference. She enjoyed running and exploring the garden; especially climbing the waterfall. She stopped by often for pets, enjoying them all over. She walked with a minor pull back to her kennel, ignoring dogs.

01-JUL-25 - INTERACT - 6/27/25 Per volunteer: Madeline was jumping in the kennel when I saw her, but she was easily leashed. She had a mild pull on the way to the play yard and did tend to pull towards other dogs in kennels. As soon as the gate opened she did a few zoomie laps in the yard. Then we started playing with the hose, which she was very interested in. When it was all over, we were both soaked. Madeline takes treats gently.

27-JUN-25 - FOSTER - 06/27/25 09:50 Adventure Tail: Madeline was so sweet and appreciative to get out of the shelter life for the day. She road in the back of Jeep very well, coming up periodically for kisses. We walked around Armature works. It was a busy day there. We walked by kids, adults, strollers, people with big equipment- she just minded her own business, enjoying all the smells. We saw several other dogs and she whimpered and wagged her tail tugging slightly. However, she was not reactive in any way and was easy to control. She’s got such a great personality and was living and pretty chill. She definitely liked walking and was great company. Madeline would be a loyal companion for anyone willing to love her.
