12-JAN-26 - FOSTER - 01/12/26 15:17- foster feedback From our experience fostering, Dusty would benefit from a house that has humans who can set clear boundaries for him, and create communication that he can understand and follow. There are times when, despite being 11, he gets rambunctious and wants to play with more energy, which some people don't like much since he's big and strong and can knock people over. We have learned to show him not to do that, he is very sweet and gently once you show him you are not interested in rough play. He enjoys being in the backyard and how he can entertain himself. I do suspect he loves having company, so he would do well in a house with another dog or people who are home often. He is not destructive when left alone, though. So my recommendation is not to be confused with separation anxiety. MC

19-DEC-25 - INTERACT - 12/19/25 14:23 Dusty was easily leashed and walked to play yard without any pulling. Motivated to for soft toys, treats (sat), and petting. Over time in yard three different male staff members, one unknown to him entered the yard. No signs of stress or change in behavior with addition of new people and Dusty solicited play and affection from all staff. Dusty did gently mouth hands of multiple staff a few times. Familiar staff member reports that Dusty typically mouths before humping but did not mount any staff. Walked calmly back to kennel and was easily unleashed. NS

18-DEC-25 - INTERACT - 12/18/25 15:33 Per volunteer: Dusty was easy to leash and walked to the yard without a pull, ignoring other dogs. Once in the yard, he sniffed around and explored the yard. He accepted treats and he knows sit. He would chase toys when thrown and occasionally bring them back, seemed to perfer squeaky toys. He walked back to his kennel with a slight pull and was easy to unleash.

04-DEC-25 - INTERACT - 12/04/25 11:38 Dusty approached staff calmly in kennel. He walked well inside of PRC, but pulled once in the parking lot. Dusty knows "sit" and was gentle taking treats. He allowed head and body pets. Dusty was playful at times, and overall did not show signs of FAS. -AA

01-DEC-25 - INTERACT - 11/26/25 Per volunteer: Dusty (A2250024) was easy to leash and walk to the garden. He sniffed and explored on his own; then came up to lean on me for pets. He took treats gently. A squeaky toy caught his attention; so picked it up and dropped it by me. I tossed it for him to chase and carry around the yard, coming back a few more times to toss for him. He played a couple gentle games of tug with another toy. He walked the yard with me and sat in front of me for pets. He walked well on leash in the lot and back to his kennel.

01-DEC-25 - FOSTER - 12/01/25 15:54 - Foster Feedback Adventure Tail I picked up Dusty at 10:30 Saturday and off we went. Dusty got into my car as best he could. He made himself comfortable for the quick ride. We walked more than I thought he would for an old guy. Dusty is a frisky old guy and he did try and hump me several times. He’s a sweetheart of a dog, humping and all. I hate that he’s there as a senior. MC

26-NOV-25 - INTERACT - 11/26/25 11:40 - Dusty stood at the gate of his kennel bouncing from foot to foot while whining with tail wag, and was easy to leash. He walked with a loose leash out to the back play yard, where he cruised with relaxed body and wagging tail while scent marking. With time, Dusty began whining while panting excessively, and pawed at LB's leg for attention; he briefly played with toys, bringing one to LB for tug, but became mouthy when LB wasn't engaging. He sat on command for treats and took them with a soft mouth. He did settle down and lay on the turf briefly, but after a few minutes continued to whine and pace. He walked with a loose leash back to his kennel and was easy to release and lock in. - LB

20-NOV-25 - INTERACT - 11/20/25 Per volunteer: Dusty was easy to leash and he came right from the back of the kennel, off of his bed, to the gate. He walked well to the yard with just a slight pull and ignoring other dogs along the way. He is engaging and allowed for all pets from head to tail and would stand still while I scratched his back. Although he wasn't interested in taking any treats today, he did enjoy licking whipped cream off of a frisbee and would sit when I asked. He chased after several of the toys and returned with many. He seemed to find one that he particularly liked and would carry that one around and play with that one by himself. Dusty was very easy to return to and unleash in his kennel.

19-NOV-25 - INTERACT - 11/19/25 11:44 When staff approached Dusty's kennel, he was laying on his bed inside. Once called, he walked out and was easy to leash. He walked with a bit of a pull at first but it lessened the longer he walked around. Dusty stopped multiple times to smell his environment. When the staff member sat down on a bench, Dusty accepted a few pets on the head and back but did not solicit attention further. He had less of a pull on the way back to his kennel and was easily returned. -DW
