05-JUN-25 - FOSTER - 06/05/25 10:03 Foster Note: Saturn has been adjusting well outside of the shelter! He has been friendly with everyone in our home. Saturn loves attention and affection and when you enter his room, he always tries to give you a big kiss! He appears to be house-trained and crate-trained and he sleeps well through the night in his crate. He very much enjoys going for long walks and maintains excellent leash manners. Saturn hasn't interacted with any other animals since being with us. When he sees other dogs while out walking, he often whines and wags his tail. Saturn very much enjoys taking long naps while someone is in his room working on a computer. He isn't fond of being left alone as he adjusts to time outside of the shelter and will whine and sometimes bark (but is not destructive). Overall, Saturn has been a wonderful foster!

20-MAY-25 - INTERACT - 5/19/25 Per volunteer: Saturn was very gentle on the leash with no pulling. He sniffed for a few minutes in the garden. He didn't show any interest in toys or playing, but walked a lap or two with encouragement. Then sat by the water dish in the shade for pets. We walked in the parking lot for a few minutes, and he was still gentle on the leash with no pulling, even when he spotted the cats under a car. No issues returning to the kennel.

14-MAY-25 - INTERACT - 5/13/25 Per volunteer: Saturn was easy to leash and he walked with a minimum pull and ignoring the other dogs along the way. Saturn came to sit by me as I sat on the ramp and solicited for lots of pet from head to tail and throughout the majority of the visit. Saturn is very treat motivated and he knows how to sit and accept treats very gently, and is not pushy. Saturn was interested in watching dogs in neighboring yards. In the garden, he did a little exploring. On the return, Saturn was reactive toward a few of the dogs, but was easy to unleash.

06-MAY-25 - BEHAVIOR - 05/06/25 14:49 Saturn was standing calmly on the outside portion of his kennel when DJ approached. Leashed up and walked out of kennel easily, walking with a calm and soft pace to the play yard. Once in the yard, Saturn sniffed around and came over to DJ for attention, accepting pets and tried to lick face. No interest in pool or splash pad when turned on, instead came back over to DJ for more petting, leaning in heavily. No interest in toys. Walking back to kennel, Saturn again walked with a calm pace and only when his neighbor dogs started barking at his return did Saturn bark back towards them, but did not pull towards kennels. Was able to return to his kennel and remove leash easily. -DJ

02-MAY-25 - MEDICAL - RE: HEARTWORM TREATMENT: This dog was diagnosed as heartworm positive after arrival at PRC. Per protocol, the pet completed 30 days of doxycycline and a 30 day rest period. Their time at the shelter has surpassed 60 days since diagnosis, meaning this dog is eligible for heartworm treatment through PRC at no cost to the adopter. Once adopted, treatment may be completed the day of adoption with pick-up the following day OR be scheduled for a future date. Alternatively, adopters may pursue heartworm treatment with their primary veterinarian. *All dogs that test positive for heartworm disease are eligible for treatment, unless otherwise indicated. Treatment must take place within 12 months of doxycycline completion. All dogs must stay current on heartworm prevention while awaiting treatment.*

30-APR-25 - INTERACT - 04/30/25 13:13 - Saturn stood quietly at his kennel door and allowed staff to leash him with no issues. He walked well to the yard. In the yard he sniffed around for a bit before coming over and soliciting attention. He then found a spot and laid down for the remainder of his time in the yard. He was no issues returning to his kennel. BP

30-APR-25 - BEHAVIOR - 04/30/25 Saturn has been changed from "tolerant" to "selective" for shelter playgroups due to him not listening to steering/corrections from the handlers or other dogs. He can be too much at times for most dogs and needs a leash to be managed in the yard. -CR

28-APR-25 - INTERACT - 04/28/25 12:21 - Saturn had a meet and greet with 2 adult citizens (1 female/ 1 male). He greeted staff at the kennel door with a loose body and stood while leash was placed on him. He walked well to the AD play yard and wasn’ t reactive to the other dogs that he passed. In the yard he sniffed around for a few minutes before coming over to staff member for attention. Staff gave the citizens a few treats to give him, and he went over to them and took the treats very gently. He allowed the citizens to give him pets all over. He spent the rest of his time in the yard going from person to person for attention and even giving “kisses” to everyone. He walked well back to his kennel and was no issues to return. BP

22-APR-25 - INTERACT - 04/21/25 Per volunteer: Saturn pulled on the leash until we were out of the kennel area, then was gentle on the leash. He didn't show any interest in toys or treats, but had loose posture and stood nearby for pets. After being petted for a while, he began exit seeking so we went for a walk in the parking lot. He pulled just a bit towards a cat under a car, and showed interest in sniffing the cat.

17-APR-25 - INTERACT - 4/16/25 Per volunteer: Saturn leashed up well at the kennel. He had loose posture. He walked with a moderate pull. Once in the yard, he had brief moments of zoomies then calmed down to interact nicely and playfully with me. He was motivated by treats and would respond to sit and eat gentle commands. He was a but mouthy with my arms but was able to be redirected. He stayed near me then would do some chill time laying out and stretching. He had no interest in toys or dogs in the other play areas. He walked back to the kennel with a little less pull and was easily unleashed.

16-APR-25 - INTERACT - 4/14/25 Per volunteer: Saturn pulled on the leash on the way to the garden, but calmed down once he was there and had a loose posture. He tolerated pets but didn't seek them or stay around for them. He wasn't interested in toys but sniffed around the plants and the fence. He began exit seeking so we walked in the lot, where he was much gentler on the leash. He was very interested in the cats in the lot.

10-APR-25 - INTERACT - 04/08/25 Per volunteer: Saturn was easy to leash and he walked with a moderate pull to the play yard. He was very friendly immediately and stayed close by through most of the visit soliciting for lots of pets from head to tail. He is treat-motivated and knows how to sit for and take them very gently. Saturn wasn't interested in the toys. In the garden, Saturn did just a little exploring, but again stayed close by. We went for a walk around the parking lot and Saturn walked with a moderate pull but easy steerability. Saturn reacted and pulled toward some of the dogs along the way back to his kennel. He was easy to unleash.

09-APR-25 - INTERACT - 04/09/25 17:30 - Saturn ran to the front of his kennel and whined/jumped/stomped at the gate, but was not difficult to leash. He walked with a slight pull out to the front play yard, where he trotted the play ground with relaxed body language and a wagging tail. He solicited attention with wiggly body language and pushed his head into and rubbed against the handler while giving kisses. He will take treats but did not sit on command. He showed no interest in toys. He walked with a slightly harder pull back to his kennel and was easy to release and lock in. - LB
