28-JAN-26 - INTERACT - 01/28/26 10:53 Mondu was waiting at the exterior kennel gate when approached by staff. He was an easy leash and walked with a heavy pull. He was walked through the back lot in a harness wrap and continued to walk with a heavy pull. Once in the yard he played with toys right away. Enjoyed fetch and played it well. Knew how to sit and accepted the treats gently. Enjoyed shredding a couple of stuffed toys. Did not come when called right away but did eventually and allowed pets all over. Spent the rest of the time in the yard playing with toys. Easy kennel. - AH

26-JAN-26 - INTERACT - 01/26/26 12:55 Mondu had a m&g with a male citizen. Mondu was easy to leash and walked to the AD yard with a pull, sniffing the ground and ignoring dogs he passed. Once in yard, swapped leashes and let Mondu sniff a moment before dropping leash. Mondu ignored the citizen initially and gradually gave DJ attention for treats. Mondu sat for treats and allowed petting from DJ and got more active with more touch. DJ gave the citizen treats to give to Mondu and Mondu took treats from him and looked back to DJ for more. This continued throughout the visit. Mondu tried to mouth DJs treat pouch, but was quickly given a vocal correction and he stopped. Similarly, when Mondu got more active in play and placed open mouth on DJs hand, again he responded to vocal correction, and sat as instructed and waited for a treat. Mondu catched as visitors and staff passed the yard and occasionally would go to the gate and paw at it, but responded to DJ calling him off the gate and came back to engage with citizen and DJ. During the visit, citizen walked with Mondu on leash back and forth in the yard, seeing Mondu pull on leash and also seeing him respond to a field harness to lessen pulling. DJ discussed the use of harnesses to help with his pulling on walked, and mentioned +/- of different styles. Mondu walked back to his kennel on a field harness, minimal pulling and ignored dogs in other kennels as he passed. Once back in kennel, Mondu sat while leash was removed and waited for a treat to be tossed in while DJ closed kennel. -DJ

21-JAN-26 - EUTHANASIA - 01/21/26 14:26 Mondu is on a final rescue plan due to concerning behavior with other dogs, kennel reactivity, and mental decline in the shelter. Mondu came to PRC as a stray suspected of killing a small dog. He was assessed as a solo dog at the shelter due to him quickly flipping into conflict with other dogs, pursuing them and being difficult to steer away. He has been in multiple altercations with other dogs while at the shelter. He also lunged at cats while on leash when out of the shelter. Due to these behaviors, it is suggested that Mondu be the only animal in the home. He has been at the shelter for 8 months with minimal interest and he is beginning to decline as a result. He recently had an incident with a staff member where he became overstimulated and bit staff’s jacket sleeve. Mondu held on while growling, shaking, and pulling and would not release it. Staff needed assistance to de-escalate the situation. Mondu can only be handled by the Wellness Team to prevent any additional unsafe situations. PRC cannot provide the proper resources or environment that Mondu requires, and he will continue to decline as he stays at the shelter. If there is no commitment by COB 1/28/26, humane euthanasia will be authorized.

20-JAN-26 - INTERACT - 01/20/26 13:09 Mondu was easy to leash getting out his kennel. He was pulling hard when walking to play yard 5. Once we got into play yard 5, he used the bathroom. I removed the slip leash from him. He grabbed ahold of the slip leash and was shaking and playing with it. Before I could call for another ACA to bring some toys to the yard for him, he grabbed onto my jacket and started to pull. He would not let go as he was growling, shaking and pulling the pocket of my jacket. I called for help to get the dog to release me. Tara came and was able to leash him and he let go. Mondu was then taken back to his kennel. The fanny pack I was wearing had treats in it which was under my jacket so he might've been going for the treats. -DW entering note for JIB

14-JAN-26 - INTERACT - 01/12/26 Per volunteer: Mondu (A2464877) stood quietly to be leashed, walking to the yard with a moderate pull. He played fetch with various stuffy toys and chased and jumped to catch a tennis ball. He jumped up on the ramp to sit for treats and sat beside me getting affection. We played in the yard before going to the garden. We played more in the garden, with Mondu staying near me as we played. He played around the pool, going part way in to retrieve a large snake toy. We took a sniff walk in the lot; where Mondu showed little reaction to cats. He was easy to walk back to his kennel.

23-DEC-25 - INTERACT - 12/18/25 Per volunteer: Mondu was easy to leash and went to the yard with a strong pull. He chased lots of toys, pausing only when he wanted to carry one around for a few minutes and squeak it or chew it to bits. He didn’t show any interest in pets, and just wanted to chase toy after toy. At the end of the play time, he stopped for water, was easy to re-leash and returned to his kennel without issues.

12-DEC-25 - FOSTER - 12/12/25 17:41 - Foster Feedback Mondu is a truly special dog — loving, loyal, gentle, and unbelievably easy to live with. He’s a cuddly sweetheart who wants nothing more than affection, routine, and a safe home where he can give all the love he has. He will thrive in a calm or moderately active household, and with a patient adopter he’ll adjust to just about any environment. Whether you want a walking buddy, a couch companion, or a dog who simply wants to be near you, Mondu is that dog. Out of all the dogs I’ve fostered — and I’ve had many great ones — Mondu is the best. If I didn’t travel so much, I would take him in a second. He is ready for a forever home where he will be cherished the way he deserves. MC

19-NOV-25 - INTERACT - 11/17/25 per volunteer, Mondu was easy to leash by new volunteer, walking with a moderate pull to yard, while ignoring dogs. He engaged playfully with both of us, chasing squeaky toys, playing fetch and running around on his own tossing toys. He sat well for new volunteer, taking treats gently and enjoying frequent pets and affection. He was playful in the garden, exploring the yard, playing in the plants and splashing in the kiddie pool. He engaged often with the new volunteer, playing, seeking pets and getting treats. He enjoyed walking with her in the lot and was easy for her to return to his kennel and unleash.

19-NOV-25 - INTERACT - 11/19/25 12:06 Mondu was easy to leash and had no reaction to other dogs barking when we walked past other kennels on the way to the play yard. Mondu had a medium pull and harnessing him helped with the pulling. In the play yard, Mondu played with toys but tore apart the stuffed toy. Mondu also went into the pool multiple times to lay in the water. There was a nother dog in the neighboring play yard and Mondu went up to the fence with a wagging tail to sniff the dog. RP

14-NOV-25 - INTERACT - 11/14/25 14:43 Mondu was easy to take out of his kennel as he sat and waited paitently for staff to open the kennel and put the leash over his head. When Mondu was outside the kennel and walking to the play yard he did not react towards the dogs barking at him and only pulled slightly during the walk. In the yard Mondu mostly sniffed around and watched others that would walk passed. He did not care to interact with staff much, but was ok with being pet and scratched. He really liked butt scratches the most. The walk back was just as calm and he went into the room with ease.
