12-NOV-25 - INTERACT - 11/12/25 12:20 Ferdinand had no kennel reactivity to the dogs going in and out, nor towards staff. He sat at the kennel door waiting for staff to leash him. He was easily leashed and walked well to yard. He played with the toys when supervised. Ferdinand knows "sit". He did jump on staff often when overstimulated. When walking back to kennel. Ferdinand "pancaked" onto the floor when A kennel staff door was opened. However, with a slight pull and encouragement he quickly followed staff inside. When he was back in his kennel (and less jumpy), he did allow staff to pet his head and body. -AA

29-OCT-25 - INTERACT - 10/29/25 10:04 Ferdinand was sitting down when staff approached. He was very easy to leash. When walking he did slightly pull on the leash. Once in the yard he sniffed around and was still a bit tense. Male staff passed by and greeted him which he immediately jumped on the fence with a wiggling tail and accepted the pets. Few seconds later he started to approach staff and took treats gently. He knows "sit" and would play with toys, most of the time he would shake the toys around. Ferdinand jumped on staff's legs few times again. When walking back he did walk well for a few seconds before immediately plopping down to the ground, staff tugged a bit and he did get up for a few seconds before again plopping down, staff tried to harness wrap and to tug on leash to entice him to get up, but Ferdinand did not budge. Staff had to carry him back into his kennel. He sat there and accepted a treat and let staff unleash him. -AR

Ferdinand slowed down at moments, and he lay down on the floor.

26-OCT-25 - INTERACT - 10/23/25 Per volunteer: Ferdinand (A2473936) was easy to leash. He walked well, laying down twice on way to the yard, once due to approaching cart and second when passing C-kennel. I stopped momentarily, talking softly and waiting for him to continue. He was playful and very affectionate in the yard, coming up for pets and tummy rubs. He sat well in training and was gentle with treats. He enjoyed climbing on the kiddy slide to get pets and treats. He never strayed far in the garden, playing among the plants and continuing to solicit affection. He did well on sit, stay and recall, returning to me quickly. After more pets, he walked well back the kennel, close by my side. He did lay down a couple times passing C-kennel. I sat on the wall for a few seconds until he stood up to walk beside me. Once past C-kennel he walked well back to his kennel. He hesitated to go back until I stepped inside; but did not lay down. He enjoyed a treat and pets before I exited.

03-OCT-25 - INTERACT - 10/01/25 10:02 Ferdinand was at the front of the outside portion of the kennel when staff approached. He had loose body posture and was all wiggles when trying to leash. Ferdinand explored the yard with Tito. He jumped on and off the ramp and steps in the yard. He would jump on staff and allow petting all over. Once leashed, Ferdinand did try to lay down once he was leashed but started walking with leash pressure and Tito walking ahead. In the office, Ferdinand greated several staff members at the gate allowing petting. -TB

23-SEP-25 - BEHAVIOR - 09/23/25 11:21 Ferdinand was on outside of kennel for morning cleaning, loose wiggly body when DJ approached kennel. Initially moved away from gate when DJ attempted to leash, but Ferdinand was in a playful behavior and crawled over with a wagging tail when DJ knelt down and leashed him up. He walked out of kennel calmly and cautiously, wagging tail when spoken to. Once in yard he immediately zoomed around and investigated the toys, grabbing a spft squeaky toy and tossing it to himself. Between play he came over to DJ for attention. Another staff member entered yard and Ferdinand greeted them excitedly, sniffing and pawing at them for attention. When they left yard, Ferdinand followed them to the gate and stayed for a moment looking for them, but then came back when DJ called for him. Leaving yard, Ferdinand layed down when DJ first opened gate but then got up with verbal coaxing and walked back to kennel without issue. -DJ

17-SEP-25 - INTERACT - 09/17/25 12:51 Ferdinand was a little hard to leash due to being a bit timid in the kennel. Staff entered kennel and was able to leash him after some pets. Once leashed he pancaked a few steps after leaving kennel but got back up and continued to walk all the way to the yard without being carried. Once in yard he spent a majority of his time just sniffing around. No marking. No interest in toys. Loose body entire time in the yard. Came when called and allowed for pets all over. After awhile climbed into staffs laps looking for pets and cuddles. Had to be carried back to kennel. Accepted treats gently. Easy to kennel. - AH

17-SEP-25 - OBSERVED - 09/17/25 10:30 When TB approached Ferdinand to leash him, he ran to the back of his kennel. TB was able to enter the kennel and he crawled toward her, she pet his head and he was able to be leashed. He walked to the back parking lot without laying down. He would pause and once he had a positive verbal cues he would continue walking. Once out, him and Tito approached each other slowly. Tito had a slow neutral tail wag and Ferdinand would lay down with ears back. After a few short meetings on leash, Ferdinand shook and then starting walking next to Tito with a loose body and relaxed tail. We entered the scent garden and allowed them to walk around on leash while interacting. Both TB & I dropped the leashes at the same time and left them dragging. Both of the dogs wrestled with each other and would chased each other around the yard. Tito hopped in the pool a couple times. Both were able to be walked back to their kennel. Ferninand did seem to stop and lay down more when there was a fence present. Both of these pups would thrive going home together. JH

06-SEP-25 - FOSTER - 09/06/25 09:20 Foster note: Weve been working on crate training and now he is up to 45 minutes alone! I'm leaving the house for just a few minutes and lessening treats and he is doing great he just needs toys in his crate. He now gets zoomies and runs in the yard. He also love to relax, he's got an easy going temperament with a low to medium energy level for a 2 year old dog. He loves to look out the front window and people watch too! He loves sunbathing!

26-AUG-25 - FOSTER - 08/26/25 12:38 Foster note: Overall I think Ferdinand is doing well. He likes to relax in his crate but doesnt like to be in there with the door shut yet. We are working on it. Some issues with walking on leash but has improved already. He is definitely decompressing, even rolling on his back already and exposing his belly! Tail wags are improved, walking on leash very well, not having to carry him. He is playing with toys, he is an aggressive chewer and loves a nylon bone! He is a very sweet boy, just needs patience, time and training.

22-AUG-25 - INTERACT - 8/21/25 Per volunteer: Ferdinand was easy to leash. He was hesitant to exit; then laid down a couple times on the way to the gate to the lot. I knelt down for a moment each time and he came to me. We walked around the building in the lot and stopped to speak with a staff person. He stood beside me and was calm. He walked the entire lot without him stopping at loud sounds. He stood up and put his paws on me a couple times for pets; then got down when told and continued walking. He did not hesitate until reaching his kennel, laying down instead. I stepped in, knelt and called him. He stood up to come in for pets; then was easy to unleash.
