28-JAN-26 - INTERACT - 01/27/26 14:38 Dog to Dog met with: two female citizens and two large breed senior dogs, male and female. Observed: All dogs greeted well, Kenny more energetic and getting corrected when jumping on the other dogs. Kenny took corrections. Kenny more energetic throughout, but not getting overstimulated with dogs or handlers while out. Discussed with adopter: crated/separated housing when first going home and acclimating, keeping toys/beds/other resources out of communal areas since multiple dogs, likewise for feeding. Discussed energy level differences and keeping supervised when together. -DJ

08-JAN-26 - FOSTER - 01/08/26 13:04 Foster note: Just wanted to give you all an update on Kenny. He is still doing great and walks like a champ on the leash. Since the holidays are over he now has to be crated in the mornings from 7-12 as I work part-time. He is hesitant to go into the crate but with a little nudging he goes in fine and so far no accidents at all in crate. He enjoys laying in the sun on the porch once I get home and take him for a walk. He does bark at people who walk by (he has a big boy bark) which does startle people but once they come and greet him he is fine. Any guest who have come to my house he is excited to meet. And this boy loves to cuddle whether it is on the couch or in bed.

31-DEC-25 - FOSTER - 12/31/25 12:17 Foster note: Kenny is such a sweetheart, all he wants is attention and to be loved. He absolutely loves playing with rope toys and tennis balls so I set up his own toy box so he knows which toys are his. He will mark (since he is a boy) but he only marked right when he came into the house after that he knows to go to the door to ask to go out. I just want to make sure his new fur-ever family knows a few facts so they dont get frustrated and return him for behavior issues that are really not issues just normal dog nuiances. His paperwork says he is 2 years old but I think he may be younger as he is so full of energy but this could just be because he is excited to be out of the shelter. He does still mouth or attempts to but we re-direct him to a toy instead. He also tries to exert dominance (on the sly) by laying his head in your lap but then slowing moves up toward your face to become higher than you, again we redirect him when he does that. He knows sit, working on down, very treat motivated & takes treats gently, walks great on a leash without pulling (after given a quick correction if pulling), he actually walks better on a leash than my own trained Pittie. I really hope he finds an amazing family prior to him having to be returned, we are trying to teach him everything we can (the basics) so that he can showcase all his skills to any visitors.

18-DEC-25 - INTERACT - 12/18/25 13:47 When staff approached kennel Kenny was barking but he stopped once staff offered him a pupperoni which he ate. Kenny was easy to leash and had a moderate pull to the play yard. Once in the yard, Kenny sniffed around and then began playing with a tennis ball. We didn't have much time in the yard because other staff members needed to use it so instead we walked around and kenny had less of a pull this time and was stopping to sniff more of his surroudings. When we got to his kennel, Kenny was hesitant to enter but eventually went in with a bit of encouragement and was easy to unleash afterwards. RP

03-DEC-25 - INTERACT - 12/2/25 Per volunteer: It took Kenny a few minutes to warm up to me, but when I sat on the bench, he came over excitedly solicit pets. He spent a little time exploring on his own, but mostly liked interacting with me. He didn’t have much interest in treats, but he chased various toys that I would throw for him.

26-NOV-25 - INTERACT - 11/26/25 08:38 Kenny was easy to leash and had a light pull on our walk to the play yard. Kenny ran around the play yard as soon as we got there and played fetch with the toys. There was one toy in particular that he was hyper fixated on. The whole time we were in the play yard, Kenny just stood in one spot and constantly chewed on the squishy ball, not even respondig when staff called to him. When it was time to leave the yard, Staff went to leash kenny and he ran away with the ball in his mouth, refusing to be leashed. Staff threw a second toy in a smaller yard which kenny chased and was then able to be leashed and walked back to his kennel. RP

19-NOV-25 - INTERACT - 11/19/25 13:27 Kenny was lying on his bed when staff approached. He immediately ran out and stood in front of the door with a loose body and wagging tail. Kenny was easy to leash and walked with a hard pull. In the yard, he immediately jumped on staff's lap and slobbered all over staff's face. Besides that initial contact, Kenny mostly kept to himself. He barked at some citizens passing by the play yard. Kenny appeared to know "sit", but he did not follow the command consistently. He was a bit mouthy with treats. When getting released back to his kennel, Kenny would not turn around and staff had to step in to unleash. -KR-

14-NOV-25 - INTERACT - 11/13/25 14:03 Per Volunteer: Kenny was easy to leash and went to the yard with a strong pull, barking and pulling towards the other dogs along the way. He sniffed around a lot, chased a few toys but didn’t return them, and didn’t show any interest in pets. He watched and ran towards the fence when other dogs walked by but didn’t bark or growl and still had loose posture. He was easy to re-leash and pulled towards his kennel, barking at the other dogs along the way again.

12-NOV-25 - INTERACT - 11/12/25 11:12 Kenny was easy to leash for staff and had no issues with pulling on his way to the play yard. Out in the yard, he would sniff around and observe his surroundings. He was very treat motivated and would sit for treats. Kenny solicited attention from staff and allowed petting all over. He played with mostly the rope toys and would run after them when thrown by staff. On his way back to the kennel, Kenny had no issues with reactivity when passing other dogs in kennel. He was returned easily to his kennel. - CW

06-NOV-25 - INTERACT - 11/06/25 16:53 Kenny was very excited to leave his kennel as he was jumping at the gate, but was ok to put a leash on. While walking to the play yard, kenny was pulling very hard on the leash just to sniff everything around him. He did not care for the other dogs in the kennels as he was more focused on the smells. Once in the yard he just sniffed around and didnt seem to care for the toy in the yard. Kenny did spot another dog leaving a different yard and was standing at full attention watching them and would bark occasionally if they got any closer to him. Pulled him away from the fence, but he kept looking back to watch them. Once they were gone he just went back to roaming around the yard and trying to watch people walk by. When I tried to pet his back he was a bit skiddish with it as he would jump just a bit once i touched him, but when he realizes its me he calmes down very quickly and ignores me. Going back to the kennel he still pulled alot and this time tried barking at a few dogs, but overall just sniffed the ground.

21-OCT-25 - INTERACT - 10/20/25 Per volunteer: When I approached Kenny he was sitting patiently at his kennel door and gently accepted a treat. He was easily leashed and disregarded the other dogs as he trotted past them. Outside, he walked with a minimal pull and a loose body posture. In the play yard, he roamed around on his own. He wasn’t very interested in playing with the stuffed toys, but he enjoyed chasing and returning the tennis balls. I sat down and he eventually came over and leaned into me accepting pets all over. He walked calmly back to his kennel and was easily unleashed.

08-OCT-25 - INTERACT - 10/08/25 17:21 - Kenny was laying in his kennel upon approach and did not stand when called; he lifted his head with ears back, but approached with a wagging tail when the lead was presented. He was easily leashed on the inside of his kennel during initial cleaning, and walked with a loose leash out to the front play yard, where he explored while scent marking. He ran at the fence and barked at passing staff with flagged tail. He drooled excessively and for most of his time out did not solicit attention on his own, remaining aloof. When approached he walked up to LB with a quick tail wag and wiggly body, soliciting attention for petting. He took treats but spit them out. He walked with a loose leash back to his kennel and was easy to release and lock in. - LB
