01-APR-26 - Interact - Greeted Staff at the kennel door, barking towards the corner of her gate towards Eden in D05. Once Caramela was leashed and brought out of her kennel. Once out, she instantly began to fence fight with Eden. Staff pulled her away and continued to walk, Caramela barked and pulled towards all the kennels she passeed by which her empty due to initial cleaning. Once in the yard, she took time to relieve herself before approaching Staff. She sat for treats and gave paw. She took each treat gently and often caught them mid air. Once Staff began to pet her, she rolled over. She allowed pets on her head, belly, lower back, and ears. Carmela often nipped at Staffs hand playfully. Once it was time to return, she pulled and backed at the dogs who were recently released from their inside kennel area. At her kennel door, she was placed and unleashed without issue. JB 4/1/2026

25-MAR-26 - Interact - 03/25/26 12:46 Carmela was excited and jumping at the door of her kennel when staff walked up, waited for her to stop jumping, and opened her door. She was easily leashed and walked with a hard pull while reactive to the other dogs in their kennels on the way to a play yard. She spinned a few times while walking towards the yard and eagerly explored once inside. Her tail was held high as she came over for pets which she enjoyed on her head, neck, shoulders, and down her back. She didn't show any interest in treats or toys that staff offered her but gave staff a few play bows as she followed them around the yard. She played with the leash a little bit and softly bit staff's pants around their ankles. She listened well when staff gave her a correction and played with a toy briefly that staff gave to her. Carmela became a bit fixated on a scrunchy around staff's wrist and kept jumping up trying to grab it before staff took it off and put it away. Staff offered her a treat again and she eagerly ate it while pawing at staff for another while she sat. She walked back to her kennel with a pull and was easily unleashed while eating a treat that staff gave her once inside. Staff closed her kennel door and walked away. KL

12-MAR-26 - Note - 03/12/26 10:38 Adopter had to bring her back due to not having enough time to care for her Caramela is great with adults but didn't met any kids.Carmela can be mouthy when playing so the next adopter need to be cautious with playing with her. Adopter said caramela is housebroken and didn't have any issues having accidents in the house caramela likes stuffed animals and loves treats. Adopter said she was never around cats but did see a cat on her walk's and would try to go after it barking and lunging towards the cat and other dogs when walking by. Adopter thinks caramel would do better as a single pet in the house.

25-FEB-26 - Interact - 02/25/26 17:43 - Caramela stood at the gate of her kennel with relaxed body and wagging tail, and was easy to leash. She walked with a mild pull to the yard. When released, she solicited attention with wiggly body, rubbing up against staff and standing in their laps. She is food motivated, and sat on command and gave paw for treats, which she took with a soft mouth. She was not interested in toys. When ignored, she can become a bit barky. She walked with a mild pull back to her kennel and was easy to return by hand. - LB

18-FEB-26 - Interact - 02/18/26 10:07 Caramela was at the front of her kennel when staff had approached with a loose body and high wagging tail. She was easy to leash for staff and walked with moderate pulling. When passing a dog in one of the yards she sniffed the fence and let out a bark with a high wagging tail and neutral body posture. Staff had guided her out to the yard and she followed. In the yard, Caramela sniffed around the perimeter for a bit before soliciting attention from staff. Staff had offered her a treat and she let out a vocalization while staring at the treat. She understood "sit" and "down" and also offered her paw for a treat. She took treats gently from staff. She rolled around on her back and accepted belly pets. She was a bit mouthy at times, occasionally attempting to put staffs hand in her mouth without applying pressure. Staff had redirected her with treats as she was very treat-motivated and fixated on the treats and treat bag. On the way back to her kennel she still had a slight pull on the leash, but was easy to return with no issues. - CW

04-FEB-26 - Interact - 02/04/26 13:27 When staff approached kennel, Caramela had some what of a stiff body posture and her ears were raised up high. Staff was able to easily leash her but she had a strong pull as soon as she stepped foot outside her kennel. Once we got to the play yard, Caramela started running around the yard and sniffing all the toys. Staff called over Caramela to see if she knew any tricks. When she walked over to staff, Caramela knew the commands sit, paw, and lay down. Staff awarded Caramela with treats after she showed off the tricks she knew and then gave her lots of back scratches which she seemes to like. Caramela did get mouthy a few times and put staffs arm in her mouth but never bit down hard enough to break skin and staff was able to discourage her from continuing this behavior. When it was time to leave the yard, Caramela had a strong pull back to her kennel and did try antagonizing the dogs we walked past by pulling towards their kennel and barking in their face. RP

28-JAN-26 - Interact - 01/28/26 16:49 - Caramela calmly approached LB from the inside of her kennel when called, and stood with wagging tail for leashing. She walked with a moderate pull to the AD yards. She cruised the yard, sniffing with relaxed body. When she spotted a couple staff members walking at a distance, she paused with stiff body and flagged tail, and gave a couple quiet barks. She was recalled and took treats with a soft mouth. She solicited attention from LB for petting, stretching and pushing against them with tail wag, and engaged in play behavior, huffing and bowing. She became mouthy while interacting, though the behavior was not difficult to deter. She walked with a moderate pull back to her kennel and was easy to return by hand despite becoming somewhat reactive with her neighbor. - LB

17-JAN-26 - Interact - 01/17/26 14:59 Caramela was lying inside on her bed when staff approached. She came over to staff with a loose body and ate a treat gently from staffs hand through the fence. She had a wagging tail when staff showed the leash. She was easy to leash but walked with a slight pull. When entering the yard, Caramela walked past another dog with a wagging tail as she ignored it. In the yard, she relieved herself, sniffed and ran around. Caramela knows “sit”, “paw”, and “down” and took treats gently. She did get impatient and jumped while waiting for a treat once but sat back down after a verbal correction. Caramela allowed staff to pet her head, ears and body. She was not interested in toys very much but is very treat motivated. Caramela often whimpered in the yard as she ran around and looked at the environment. She had a wagging tail, upright ears, open mouth, and loose body while in the yard. When walking back to kennel, Caramela often checked in with handler (made eye contact with staff as she walked). -AA

06-JAN-26 - Note - 01/05/26 17:08 Adopter had to return because they did not have enough time due to having a new born. Adopter said she did well with baby in house, showing no aggression toward them. Adopter said she loves treats that are bacon flavor and only would eat food that was beef flavor. Adopter said she needs someone who can train her to not jump on people in a (playful way). Adopter said she did see cats outside and would chase them so they recommended they shouldn't go home with cats.

29-DEC-25 - Interact - 12/27/25 Per volunteer: She was easy to leash and unleash. She didn't pull. She briefly explored the yard but showed little interest so I took her for a long walk in the garden and the parking lot.
