13-MAY-25 - Behavior - 05/13/25 14:00 Similar behavior to last behavior memo besides noted. When Knoxville exited the kennel, he made about 5-7 attempts at biting the chain leash and would chew on it for a couple seconds each time. When leaving the yard, Knoxville would not come to the catch pen and moved away when frst approached, then allowed leashing. When turning the corner, he began fence fighting with the first dog in the kennel. When pulled away, he chewed on the chain leash until CR was able to pull it away from him. With space from the kennels, he walked on loose leash. When close, he pulled towards dogs. At his kennel, he pulled towards his neighbor. Once pulled away, he calmed, then entered on his own after a second. Leash easily removed. -CR

06-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/06/25 Per volunteer: Took a few tries to clip chain leash due to being wiggly. Upon exit of the kennel there was a burst of excitement and some leash biting. Redirection took a minute of stillness to calm and then the walk to the play yard was fine with a strong pull. Dogs along the walk were of no interest to him. Once in the yard he was loose and playful and would sit and shake for treats. Toys were of no interest and he didn't seem to care about any of the other dogs in the other play yards. The walk around the parking lot went well with no leash biting and the pull seemed to have dissipated. He was tiring out on the walk back to the kennel and pace was a bit slower, again no interest in the other dogs and the unleash was fine.

02-MAY-25 - Behavior - 05/02/25 16:00 Knoxville was easy to clip a chain leash to in the kennel. When he felt the first leash pressure after exiting, he mouthed the leash briefly, then did not do it again the rest of the time. He walked with a heavy pull so we worked on "stop and go". Knoxville had loose posture throughout the interaction. He was high energy when first in the yard and calmed down with more time out. Knoxville solicited pets often and allowed petting all over. He chased after balls and would let CR pick them up to throw again when he dropped them. He took treats gently. He walked back with little to no pull until at his kennel. He pulled away from the kennel so CR walked in and he followed. He was easily unclipped and CR exited without issue. -CR

29-APR-25 - Interact - 04/25/25 Per volunteer: Knoxville was easy to leash (with his clip leash!) but had a hard pull toward the yard. In yard, he ran around initially with no interest in toys and not much interest in treats. He was interested in attention, returning to me over and over and staying close for pets. After initially running around he explored the yard, sniffing calmly. He seemed to relax his body into the petting. He was easy to walk back but he put on the brakes and I had to have help to coax him into his kennel.

25-APR-25 - Behavior - 04/25/25 A volunteer asked for assistance getting Knoxville back in the kennel. When trying to walk him in, he would pull back and flail. Once he calmed down, CR knelt in front of the open door and he came over then walked with CR inside. The leash was unclipped without issue. He was standing at the door so treats were tossed in the back to try and get him from it but he paid no attention. CR slipped out of the door without issue. -CR

23-APR-25 - Interact - 04/23/25 15:52 - Knoville was standing quietly with a loose body. He allowed staff to leash him with no issues. He walked fairly well to the new kennel and only turn and grabbed the leash twice, but let go of the leash immediately after grabbing it. He didn't really pay any attention to the other dogs that he passed. He was a little hesitant to go into his new kennel, but staff was able to walk in with him and he entered with no other issues. He allowed staff to unclip his leash with no issues. BP

22-APR-25 - Behavior - 04/22/25 16:17 Knoxville still mouthing leash, but very much lessened with metal leash, was mouthy at times of play but gave no pressure, all open mouth and stopped when he didn't get attention. DJ approached kennel and pet waited standing while leash was clipped to collar. Once gate was opened wide, Knoxville hopped out of kennel and turned to mouth leash the first time there was pressure to hid neck, but stopped as soon as his mouth met metal, then walked past kennels with a strong pull to the end of the hall. Once in AD play yard, Knoxville darted to run, again mouthed leash when pressure on leash but didn't bite leash. Knoxville than sniffed around yard and greeted both JS and DJ, ignored when jumping up for attention and received pets when all paws were on the ground. When play got his energy up, Knoxville started to get open mouthed to JS or DJs arms, no pressure, and again stopped when we was ignored, and was rewarded with more petting when settled. Leaving yard, Knoxville would check back with DJ holding the leash and walked calmly until he was at the kennels and heard the other dogs, then he was pulling heavily back to his kennel. Knoxville didn't want to enter his kennel, until DJ stepped in ahead of him. DJ then backed out of kennel and removed metal leash and closed kennel. -DJ

19-APR-25 - Interact - 04/19/25 13:57 Staff responded to a page made by a volunteer needing assistance. Upon arriving to the kennel the volunteer was inside with Knoxville. While trying to return him the volunteer went in the kennel with him to retrieve the leash and Knoxville chewed through it completely. Staff used a chain leash to leash him and let him out of the kennel so the volunteer could leave. Knoxville darted out of the kennel, bit at the chain leash briefly and then redirected onto his neighbor. Staff was able to pull him away but he refused to go into his kennel. They then took him for a walk to help him calm down. Upon return both neighbors were locked inside and after a few attempts staff was able to put him back in the kennel and unclip his leash with out issues. WP

15-APR-25 - Foster - 04/15/25 11:54 Adventure tail: Today we had the pleasure of spending the day with the cutest boy Knoxville! We were so happy to take him out for the day. He enjoyed a stroll at the park, a Pup cup, and playing with toys and cookies from petsmart! Knox is a super sweet high energy boy who would THRIVE in a home with lots of playtime and running! When meeting Knox for the first time he approached us with a happy wagging tail and high energy he was so excited for his day out! Knox did great on the chain leash he did not pull much only when seeing other doggies he was a bit reactive to other dogs but was not reactive to other people. I would recommend keeping a chain leash versus a fabric leash as he would chew a fabric leash when overstimulated. Knox loved his pup cup and treats from petsmart. He knew sit and paw before giving him a treat! Very food motivated! Knox did great in the car, he whined a little bit but did not have any accidents or upset tummy! Knox loved his upper chest rubbed and scratched! He showed interest in squeak toys but not overly excited for them.

14-APR-25 - Behavior - 04/14/25 14:26 When reaching under Knoxville's head to clip the chain leash, he kept pawing CRs arm. The collar loop was moved to the top and he was eaisly leashed. He walked with a heavy pull and turned to grab the leash several times but never bit down. In the yard, he had loose posture and stayed close to CR. Two staff members walked by the yard and Knoxville remained loose, standing next to CR while observing them. When a dog was walked by, he ran along the fence while barking and could not be called away. Knoxville knows "sit" and "paw". He was grabby with treats but has a soft mouth. He would chase toys but did pick them up. He was more engaged with them while CR held them and played gentle tug. Knoxville walked back on loose leash until the dogs began reacting, then he pulled heavily towards them while whining and barking. When pulled away by the leash, he snapped his head around and bit it. This happened several times along the way back. He went in his kennel easily and was unclipped without issue. -CR

07-APR-25 - Interact - 4/5/25 Per volunteer: Knoxville was easy to leash and he came out with a pull and pulled steadily along the way back to the yard, ignoring other dogs. In the yard, Knoxville solicited for pets from head to tail and often. He chased after and retrieved all tennis balls and easily exchanged them. He accepted treats gently. In the garden he did a little exploring and came when called. Once we returned to the yard, he saw another dog in a neighboring yard and ran along the fence line watching the other dog. On the return, Knoxville pulled less but became quite reactive toward a couple dogs. He almost passed out as I applied pressure to pull him away. Once in the kennel, he was easy to unleash.
