11-JUN-25 - Interact - 06/06/25 9:31am: PER VOLUNTEER Charlie Boy was easy to leash, walking well to the garden. The volunteer played fetch with Charlie, having Charlie drop his toy for a treat or sit waiting for the next throw. He enjoyed chasing the toy into the garden pool, retrieving it, playing and then bringing it back. The volunteer & Charlie also went to other parts of the garden to play and explore, leaving the toys behind. He sat well for photos and for long pets while sitting with the volunteer. He was easy to leash and return to his kennel.

10-JUN-25 - Interact - 6/9/25 Per volunteer: Charlie pulled hard on the way to the garden. He ran around the garden, picked up a toy and carried it for a bit, then chased toys and a tennis ball that were thrown, exchanging them for treats. After several minutes of fetch, he went into the pond and sat in the shade to chew on the tennis ball. He went easily back to the kennel with only a mild pull.

29-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/27/25 Per volunteer: Leashed up fine after some calming talk. He jumped out from the kennel quickly but redirection worked fine and with just a mild pull he was a pleasant walk to the play yard. He was not interested in any of the dogs along the way. In the play yard he was curious about movement, people and other dogs in the adjacent play yards and parking lot but not fixated. Interacted with volunteer and enjoyed play with squeaker stuff toys by himself but did not destroy any. He liked treats and would adhere to basic cues like sit and stay to earn a treat. He enjoyed the water and many laps around the yard sniff exploring until tired. He walked back a little slower so no pull and same as before no reaction to the other dogs. Unleash was fine.

21-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/21/25 12:05 : Was easy to leash decent pull. Cruised around play yard with loose body posture. Saw two other dogs in other play yards and reacted well towards them with a loose body posture. No problems returning to kennel LM

17-MAY-25 - Interact - Per Volunteer: 05/15/25: Charlie Boy (A2398439) was easy to leash with leash held low, walking with a moderate pull to the yard. He played fetch, using alternating toys at first; then having him sit between each throw. He was also easily distracted by going after a tossed treat; then picking up the original toy. No attempt made to pick up toy he had, due to notes. He sat well, held a stay and would recall and sit for treat, taking it gently. He was comfortable being in yard with three volunteers. He also played in the pool in the yard and ran around playfully without toys. He walked with slightly less pull back to his kennel and was easy to unleash, pet and give a treat.

12-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/12/25 16:02 - Charlie ran to the front of his kennel while whining and jumping on the gate, but was not especially difficult to leash. He charged out of his kennel and tried to run to the gates of the neighboring dogs, but was not difficult to redirect. He walked with a hard pull out to the back parking lot, where handler implemented use of a field harness due to choking. Charlie continued to pull hard on the leash, and when he spotted a cat in the lot he froze with his ears forward, tail flagged, and hackles up before attempting to pull very hard towards the cat while whining. He tried this with every cat we passed on the way back to gen pop, searching under cars and through bushes. Walking through gen pop he did attempt to charge a couple of kenneled dogs as we passed. He was easy to release and lock back into his kennel. - LB

08-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/08/25 11:04 Charlie was jumping franticly at kennel when staff approached, in doing this, Charlie fell on his back. He stood back up immediately and was leashed without further issue. He then charged out of kennel door and walked with a heavy pull on the leash to the play yard. Once in the yard, he sniffed around with a relaxed body posture and enjoyed playing in the pool. Toys were not offered to Charlie due to past resource guarding issues, and he would not take treats from staff. He became hyperfixated when dogs would walk past the yard. He did not solicit attention, but allowed staff to pet him when approached. -LB

06-MAY-25 - Foster - 05/06/25 11:41 Adventure Tail: Charlie Boy greeted me with a kind sniff and tail wag. He leapt into my car without hesitation. I rolled down the windows and he sat settling in with ease sniffing the air. He seemed to enjoy the wind and scents moving by. When we arrived at the park, he stepped out calmly. He explored the park at a relaxed pace. I tossed a ball a few times, and he chased after it eagerly, returning and occasionally chomping down on the toy in a burst of joy. When it was time to leave he walked quietly beside me back to the car, without resistance. Throughout each ride, he remained well-mannered, content to sit in the back seat. Occasionally, he'd lean his head toward the front, just to soak up a little attention. At the new park, he sniffed every corner with calm interest. My laid-back presence seemed to put him at ease; I gave him space to get comfortable, and he responded by seeking out mine. Often settling beside me, leaning in just enough to let me know he felt safe. When I sat with him, he gently laid across me in a relaxed pose, as he squeaked his toy between his paws. When introduced to another human he greeted them with friendly tail wags, openly accepting their affection with a calm, trusting demeanor. When it was time to return to the shelter, he came along without hesitation, making the transition smooth.

28-APR-25 - Interact - 04/28/25 10:20: PER VOLUNTEER Charlie Boy was easy to leash. He walked through the kennels moderately pulling, but ignoring dogs in passing. Once in the yard volunteer gave Charlie a quick pet, then he immediately shpwed interest in toys in the yyardd. He was avoidant with sharing toys, as he would run away with toy when called. Volunteer did trade off toys with Charlie Boy, which gradually progressed to him sitting and waiting for the ball to be thrown for him to fetch it. He did well on sit, stay and recall; when getting verbal and hand cues. He was mildly interested in treats, & occasionally sat close by soliciting for pets.

23-APR-25 - Behavior - 04/23/25 13:45 Charlie was sleeping inside then came to the door with loose posture. He jumped at the door so the leash was held low and he was leashed when he stayed down. He walked with a heavy pull towards the kennels. In the yard, he sniffed and relieved himself for the first few minutes. He spent the rest of the time soliciting attention. He would sit calmly in front of CR when being pet and alowed pets all over. When petting stopped, he would stay still for more. There were no toys in the yard. We spent time going through the next two yards for him to explore more and Charlie got in the pool. JS entered the yard and Charlie greeted him with loose posture. Charlie heard a dog in the next yard through a barricade them kept pacing and standing on the fence to investigate. He could achknowledge CR with a tail wag when called but could not be distracted. Charlie walked back with a mild pull, showing less interest in the dogs, and was easily unleashed. -CR
