21-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/21/25 14:54 Astro greeted staff at the gate with a tail wag. He was easy to leash and had no issues going to the yard. In the yard, Astro solicited petting the entire time by leaning on and jumping in staff's lap. There were no issues returning to the kennel. - NS

19-MAY-25 - Foster - 05/19/25 18:30 Foster note: Astro is the kindest, most loving dog you’ll ever meet. Please do not let his barking and timid behavior in the cage fool you. You won’t want to skip him over. As soon as you see him he will immediately want you to give him pets and just love all over anyone around or other dogs. He also loves being held or carried like a baby. If you straddle him or curl him up he will allow you to pick him up like this easily and willingly everytime. I will also say he is not a fan of baths but if you slowly guide him as a couple or family and talk him through it, he will be fine. Hes been a blast to foster!

17-MAY-25 - Foster - 05/17/25 12:20 Foster Note: Astro is an absolutely amazing dog. Full of energy and just fun to be around. He is a great car rider and loves to take in the breeze, run along the Riverwalk, or just relax during an evening dinner outside at a restaurant. He is an extremely active dog so would love someone who can offer him the space and time he needs. He loves to play with other dogs including smaller dogs and has shown no signs of any reaction to cats or any small animals in nature. He loves to run and just be his goofy self. He also loves any rope toy or rubber toy which he can’t live without. He also craves a good ole pup cup after a long adventure. However, he does have a strong pull but can be easily redirected. He is very food motivated and knows how to sit. He also LOVES watching television and action movies or any movie with a lot of sounds that he can watch on the couch with you. He would definitely prefer not being in a cage but will go to sleep after a few minutes quite easily. He would need to adjust to any cage he is put in but if you make it comfortable he will do fine. Also, he is a fan of a kong with any snacks in it. He is surely a cuddle lap dog but make sure his toys are nearby. He is easily trainable and loves to jump to welcome you in the door with the most loving puppy eyes. Overall, he is adorable and would love to find a family to take him on adventures! mw

16-APR-25 - Interact - 04/16/25 17:14 Astro was easy to leash but had a strong pull on the way to the yard. Once in the yard he zoomed and sniffed around. He played with the soft squeaky toys but wasn't interested in treats. He still had a strong pull on the way back but was easy to unleash. AG

15-APR-25 - Interact - 04/15/25 17:47 Pet ran out from inside of kennel upon approach, barking at DJ and AW but stopped and wagged tail at sight of leash. Initially jumped up at leashing, DJ waited for all paws on the ground before leashing. Once out, pet pulled heavily on leash, curious of other dogs as he passed but easily continued walking to play yard. Once in yard, allowed pet to sniff around at a walking pace. Came over to greet DJ and accepted petting, then darted over to AW at bench, prompting DJ to keep hold of leash to keep pet from running or jumping. Pet was receptive to calm petting and would also focus on treats to sit or walk the yard at DJs side. Leaving yard, pet had less pull on leash returning to kennel, able to remove leash easily. -DJ

11-APR-25 - Interact - 4/9/25 Per volunteer: Astro started barking inside the kennel, but he let me put the leash on him easily. In the yard, he had loose body posture, solicited for attention, and allowed pets all over. He took treats gently. He played with toys that make noise. Astro was easy to return to the kennel.

02-APR-25 - Interact - 04/02/25 09:06 Per Volunteer: Very excited to leash, attempted to jump once out but easily corrected. Once out he pulled very slightly on the way out to walk. He was very easy to walk once in the lot. He politely looked at every sound, cat and person but didn't pull. Gave a hard lean for pets all over. He had a moderate pull once back in the fence.

28-MAR-25 - Interact - 03/28/25 11:38 Astro allowed staff to leash . Astro pulls on leash with relaxed body wagging tail when meeting new poeple. ON his walk Astro held up his back leg a couple of times but didnt let it slow him down.

26-MAR-25 - Interact - 03/26/25 17:16 Luca approached kennel gate with loose body posture and wagging tail. Was jumping up at kennel gate when attempting to leash.Was able to leash after a few moments without any issues. Upon entering the yard, Luca became excited and ran up and down the length of the yard. Observed that Astro becomes jumpy when he gets excited. He allowed all petting and handling from the staff in the yard. Was able to place back into kennel and unleash without any issues. MS

16-MAR-25 - Interact - 03/16/25 16:15 - Astro greeted staff at the kennel door with a loose body. He allowed the leash to be placed with no issues. He walked well to his new kennel. He wasn't reactive to the other dogs that he passed. Went into his new kennel with no issues and allowed the leash to be taken off. BP

04-MAR-25 - Behavior - 03/04/25 16:00 Astro was easy to leash and walk to the yard. He was nervous of reactive dogs but continued walking past them. In the yard, he explored with loose posture. He solicited attention and was very wiggly when being pet. CR knelt down and he started flopping over and rubbing his body along CR. A collar was easily put on him. Astro was easy to return to the kennel and unleash. He took a treat in the kennel. -CR

Certain pets in the care of Pet Resources and/or their records may not be available for adoption or release pending a determination of ownership rights and/or legal consent, such as during stray hold times or active abuse investigations. Please be advised that the County will maintain copies of all medical records produced while the pet was in the County’s care and custody and may release them to the public, if requested.
