29-JUL-25 - Observed - 07/29/25 14:00 Chief was jumping up the kennel wall and bouncing around while barking when staff was leashing a dog two kennels down. Upon returning the dog, Chief came to the kennel door and took a stalking stance. Once staff passed without a dog, he stood up. -CR

07-JUL-25 - Interact - 07/07/25 Per volunteer: Chief was calm, quiet and did a play bow when I approached. He was easily leashed. Once out of his kennel, he pulled hard and did not react to the neighboring dogs we passed. Walking in the parking lot, he trotted with a loose relaxed body posture. In the play yard, he would run hard on his own, occasionally running after a thrown toy. He came over to me and allowed petting all over. Walking back, he continued to pull hard at times. He was returned to his kennel without issues. Chief watched me take out and return the the dogs next to him, and while I was doing this, he began to bark, jump and spin in his kennel.

18-JUN-25 - Interact - 06/16/25 Per volunteer: Chief pulled hard on the way to the garden. Once there, he went straight to a mud puddle and rolled in it. He then rolled onto his back in the grass for pets and belly rubs. He stayed in the shade for pets for most of the time. He went over to the fence for a few minutes to say hello to a dog in the adjacent yard, then returned to his spot in the shade. He was easy to leash but pulled again on the way back to the kennel.

12-JUN-25 - Interact - 06/12/25 09:21: PER VOLUNTEER 06/10/25: Chief was easy to leash and walk to the garden. The volunteer & him spent a few minutes in light play mode, due to the heat. The volunteer lightly sprayed the hose to cool Chief off as he played. He then went to lay under the gazebo in the shade and roll in the dirt. He laid on his back for tummy rubs and gently took a few treats. He walked beside the volunteer around the shady part of the garden, getting lots of pets. He sought attention often and was very affectionate. He was very good on leash & walking in the lot and returning to his kennel.

05-JUN-25 - Foster - 06/05/25 09:43 Adventure Tail: Chief did very good on his day out to the park and pet supply store. He would get in the car easily and do well on rides. He hopped in the car the first time and rolled around in the back seat, looking very happy. We first went to Lettuce Lake to walk around and sit. He was very excited, full of energy, and had a pull when walking, eager to explore everything but nothing too crazy. When walking by people, he was very interested in them and would want to head over to them, but it was mainly just to smell them. It was a rainy day, and he didn’t seem to mind. We sat out on a blanket in the grass, he sat next to me and loved being pet head to tail. He rubbed himself in the dirt, so I brought him to clean him with dog shampoo and he stayed calm and cooperative throughout the cleaning. Chief had never barked and would accept treats from my hand very softly. He would respond well to commands when said sternly, like “sit” and “no”, when he would eat grass. At the store, he was excited to smell around the aisles and got overly intrigued by a man with his dog, and his leash needed to be held tightly, but he still remained well behaved. The walking had tired him out, and he napped peacefully in the back of the car on the way back. Chief is a sweet boy who is full of life and fun to be around! mw

19-MAY-25 - Interact - 5/17/25 Per volunteer: Chief waited patiently for me to leash him. He pulled some on the way to the yard. He relieved himself immediately upon arriving in the yard. Chief was playful with the soft toys, chasing them and running around but mostly he stayed close to me. He leaned in for petting and he remained sitting in front of me, backing up until he was up against me while I petted him. He is gentle with treats and he knows sit, shake, paw and come! He was not at all distracted by dogs in adjacent yards and was only interested in playing and getting pets.
