12-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/12/25 09:57: PER VOLUNTEER Yaya was easy to leash. She walked with a moderate pull, using route away from dogs. Once in yard, she immediately ran to toys, picking up a stuffy toy to run and toss in the yard. I tossed other toys and played fetch. She easily gave up toys. She ended up settling on a rubber squeaky pig as her favorite. She started out a little rough taking treat; then did better when having her sit before giving them to her. She became more affectionate after playing for a few minutes, getting pets and tummy rubs. She did well on basic prompts (sit, stay, recall). She walked with a mild pull trough the lot and back to her kennel.

30-APR-25 - Interact - 04/30/25 15:40 Yaya came to gate when MB approached, jumping up and mouthy to leash, Yaya also reacting to neighbor barking at kennel. Once leashed, Yaya walked out to yard with a heavy pull. As soon as she was in the yard, Yaya ran around in zooms as she investigated the yard. DJ brought toys out and Yaya started to grab the stuffie toys right away, squeaking and chasing aorund the yard. Yaya did show interest in fetch with squeaky toys and tennis balls, but did not return toys to BM or DJ. Yaya was more independantly playful with toys instead of engaging with handlers, did not solicit for pets but accepted them especially with treats. Yaya took treats with a rough mouth. Walking back to kennel, Yaya walked back with less of a pull on the leash and DJ was able to return her to kennel without issue. -DJ

28-APR-25 - Foster - 04/28/25 10:47 Adventure tail: She had the biggest smile on her face the entire time we were out and she was so polite. When we got to the truck she was so excited to jump in. She was active in the front seat at first, but she settled down. Even though the window was down about half way she never stuck her head out during the ride. She just loved watching everything go by. She wanted to pull on the leash when we first got out of the truck but she's easily redirected. Very treat motivated. First, we went to Lettuce Lake Park and walked around for a few hours. She didn't pay too much attention to other dogs, but wanted to meet everyone that went by. Then, we went to the pet store so she could pick out a few toys. She picked out 2 but mostly loved playing with the stuffed hambone squeaker. It was so cute watching her pick them out. I could tell she put thought into the toys she selected. She's a great shopping buddy. She received several compliments and pets from different people while we were there. She showed her appreciation with lots of kisses and always maintained a very sweet happy demeanor. We ended our wonderful day with lunch. She didn't beg for our food and was a pleasure the whole time we were there. Everyone thought she was so sweet and beautiful. After all that she was worn out. She needed a bit of assistance getting in and out of the truck and she kindly accepted it. Yaya is definitely smart. She loves being pet and gives lots of kisses in return. She follows commands very well. She takes treats gently, and loves homemade sweet potato chews. She never tried to jump up on anyone. She was the sweetest happiest dog I've seen in a long time. Yaya will be a wonderful companion for some lucky family. She's truly an amazing dog.

23-APR-25 - Interact - 4/22/25 Per volunteer: She was sniffing and looking without a pull walking to the garden. Once in the garden, she immediately grabbed a toy and ran laps for quite a while. She jumped in the pond. She didn't solicit my attention but was comfortable and loose when I offered pets.

16-APR-25 - Interact - 04/15/25 Per volunteer: Yaya is a dog with a lot of fun, excitable energy! I leashed her with no problems, but Yaya walks to the yard with quite a lot of pull! Once arrived, Yaya immediately ran for the toys, zipping between them. She knows how to fetch and sit, and will take treats. Yaya surprised me, but once I initiated, she started seeking out some attention in our time together, even rolling on her back for belly rubs at one point! Yaya offered no issues returning to her kennel, tired and happy.

16-APR-25 - Interact - 04/16/25 14:00 Yaya approached kennel door with loose body language and wagging tail. She was easy to leash. Yaya has a strong pull, and tends to maintain tension/pulling even when staff stops walking. She pulled in the direction of a few kennel dogs. She pawed and dug at a few fence gates. As soon as Yaya was set free in the yard, she took off with a non-squeek plush. She appeared to like most soft toy types. She ignored the tennis ball. She understands sit. She nips at treats. Returning Yaya to her kennel was easy. -KR-

02-APR-25 - Interact - Yaya was at the kennel door when I approached. She was pushing towards the gate when she saw the leash. I leashed her inside the kennel, she pulled very hard trying to get to other dogs in the kennel on the walk. She sat well on the scale for treats, pulled all the way back to the kennel. It was easy to remove leash. AC

29-MAR-25 - Interact - 03/29/25 14:56 Yaya greeted staff at the kennel door with loose body posture and was easy to leash. Strong pull, especially in the direction of dogs in kennels. Once in the yard, Yaya zoomed around and jumped on staff. Yaya played with staff in a rough and rowdy manner. She allowed petting and accepted treats. When presented with treats, Yaya has a tendency to snap at the treat. She got staff's fingers/hand in her mouth on a few occassions. She did not bite down on those occurrences. She pawed and pulled at the yard door (AD yard) as if she knew how to open it. -KR-

20-MAR-25 - Interact - 3/19/25 Per volunteer: Yaya leashed well and walked with a pull. She was very interested in the other dogs along the walk to the yard. She had no interest in treats to stimulate interaction. Yaya ran out a lot of energy with a couple of the plush toys but did not interact with me with the toys. She did understand "sit" and "roll over". We went on a walk and she had a strong pull straight ahead, did not sniff, just going forward faster than I was walking. The walk back to the kennel was fine.

19-MAR-25 - Interact - 03/19/25 14:29 Yaya greeted staff member at kennel door with relaxed body posture and allowed leashing. Observed that Yaya pulls hard on leash and tends to veer towards the other neighboring dogs. Once in yard, Yaya got excited and began to run up and down the length of the yard. She began to play with some toys in the yard and didn’t seem to pay much attention to the staff member. Towards the end of the interaction, Yaya came up and solicited attention from staff. She allowed all petting and rolled onto her back for belly scratches. Was able to place back into kennel and unleash without any issues. MS
