Waluigi hasn’t given staff any issues with handling. He is very treat motivated and can become mouthy and jumpy with it comes to treats. He is easy to leash and does walk with a pull. He does well with dogs at the shelter when supervised. .

01-AUG-25 - Note - 08/01/25 12:08: Stairs are too much for him to walk up and down to get to apartment. Did great inside the house. Did well with adults. Barked at other dogs, but did well around them. Had a small accident inside the apartment on a real plant, so housebroken for the most part. Adopter thinks a first floor owner would be ideal.

28-JUL-25 - Foster - 07/28/25 15:56 Foster note: Great dog. Big boy. Thought he might have trouble getting in the car but he didn’t. Definitely needed the seatbelt as he wanted to be upfront where the action was. I did get kisses right off the bat. What a great introduction that was. He settled in for most of the ride and did enjoy the breeze on his face more than once. We spent 80% of our time in the cool clubhouse. Waluigi loved the cool floor. He also loved pets. It was funny he will reposition himself so you get his favorite spot. It’s very cute. He will let you know if he wants more pets! I spoiled him with lots of love. Waluigi is a great dog. I really hope he gets a chance to spend his twilight in a nice home.

23-JUL-25 - Interact - 07/23/25 15:34 Waluigi had loose body and high wagging tail when staff approached his kennel. While unlocking the door, Waluigi became jumpy and staff waited for him to calm down before opening and leashing. Waluigi walked with a loose leash, only pulling slightly on hot pavement. He did not react to any dogs while passing kennels. In the yard, Waluigi roamed around for a bit and ate some grass. When called, Waluigi came up to staff and allowed petting. He appears to understand sit, and will kind of lie down with the "down" command when prompted with a treat. He was slightly nippy when taking treats. On the way back, staff and Waluigi crossed paths with an adoption release. Waluigi seemed to take interest and stopped in his tracks before staff pulled him away. Besides that one case, he did not seem intrigued by other dogs during the return leg. He was easy to unleash in his kennel. -KR-

09-JUL-25 - Interact - 7/8/25 Per volunteer: Waluigi was very excited upon approach, jumping up and down. However, he calmed down and sat nicely to be leashed easily. He then walked well to the yard. In the yard, he did not have any interest in toys. He did take treats but mostly solicited attention. He would come over and give hugs—standing on his hind legs—and lick me in my face. Majority of Waluigi’s time was spent getting petted all over. On the way back to his kennel, he walked well but stopped a few times to roll around in the dirt.

07-JUL-25 - Interact - 7/2/25 Per volunteer: Waluigi was easy to leash and walked great on leash with no pulling and no reaction to other dogs on the way to the yard. He was very calm and leaned into me for petting. He had no interest in toys. He did great on a walk around the parking lot and was gentle with treats. He came over to me in the yard when I called him and was very relaxed.

25-JUN-25 - Interact - Note from Volunteer - 06/16/25: Waluigi (A2440793) stood quietly to be leashed, walking well to the yard, ignoring dogs. He went off to explore the yard; then came back over when offered a treat, taking it gently. He was treat motivated, climbing the ramp and the kiddie slide to sit for treats and pets. He played briefly in the hose spray; then rolled around in the yard. He sat beside me on the ramp, getting pets and giving me a few gentle licks on my cheek. He did well in training, doing sit, down, stay and recall. He walked well back to his kennel, staying close and calmly passing dogs.

30-MAY-25 - Behavior - 05/30/25 Waluigi engaged with an altercation between two other dogs during playgroup. He was able to be pulled away by the collar then handed to a volunteer. The volunteer did not have a leash and attempted to walk him out of the yard by a collar so he turned and bit her arm, letting go immediately after. The volunteer was wearing two bite sleeves and the bite caused immediate bruising but no broken skin. -CR

11-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/07/25 Waluigi greeted staff at the kennel door with a loose posture and was easily leashed. He walked well past the neighboring kennels and once in the yard he sniffed the perimeter. Waluigi solicited attention from both staff members and allowed them both to pet him. He repeatedly leaned against the staff member when they would stop petting him. Waluigi sat for treats and took them nicely. He walked well back to his kennel and was easily unleashed. CS

03-MAY-25 - Foster - 05/03/25 18:27 Adventure tail: Waluigi was the most amazing boy today! When we first picked him up we went straight to Starbucks to get him a pup cup, which he loved, and then we headed over to my grandma's house so he could have a place to run around as much as he wanted. In the car he was great! He did seem a little nervous at times, nothing crazy at all, just he never really settled down. Once we arrived at my grandmas we walked him on the leash for a bit and he was great! Slight pull right of the bat but after he sniffed for a bit there was no pull at all. He met my friend and my grandparents and did great with all of them! He is so affectionate and was basically attached to my hip the whole time. He had the best time out on the boat today! He is such a calm dog and loved being out on the water, it was so cute! Overall, Waluigi was the best boy ever!

18-APR-25 - Interact - 4/17/25 Per volunteer: Waluigi was easy to leash, and he walked with only a slight pull and showing no reactivity towards other dogs on the way to the play yard. Waluigi solicited for pets from head to tail and often. He is treat motivated and knows how to sit for his treats and is learning to take them gently. He was not interested in the toys. We went for a walk around the parking lot and he walked well with a minimal pull and easy steerability. He alerted to a cat, but did not pull towards it. Back in the yard, he accepted more treats and a few more pets. He was easy to return to and unleash in his kennel.

17-APR-25 - Interact - 4/16/25 Per volunteer: Waluigi was jumping in his kennel. He walked easily to the garden. He sniffed around the first 5 minutes with no interest in me. The rest of the time, he was more interested in attention and allowed pets all over.

Pet profiles are updated every thirty minutes with the pet's status updated every fifteen minutes, seven days a week. Watch the ADOPT Tutorial Video for navigation help.

Certain pets in the care of Pet Resources and/or their records may not be available for adoption or release pending a determination of ownership rights and/or legal consent, such as during stray hold times or active abuse investigations. Please be advised that the County will maintain copies of all medical records produced while the pet was in the County’s care and custody and may release them to the public, if requested.
