25-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/23/25 Per volunteer: Oriole was very energetic jumping out of the kennel and pulled hard towards other dogs. He was high energy in the yard and barked at other dogs he saw. Oriole played a little with various toys but mostly tried to start rough play with me. He did allow petting. He pulled towards other dogs on the way back to his kennel.

21-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/17/25 Oriole has loose body posture as staff approached the kennel. Staff gave him a rope toy and was able to easily leash him. He darted out of the kennel and pulled hard on the leash once. He bounced around lighty on the leash while walking through the kennel. In the yard, staff whiched between tossing toys for him to chase. He did mouth at staff's arm but was easily redirected with toys. In the office, he had a slow feeder with frozen peanut butter, water, and chicken broth. He did well with staff walking around the office while he was licking it. He went into the crate with treats but would whine and bark loudly when staff left. He would try to stand on the baby gate and bark if not in the crate. He allowed several other staff members to come into the office and pet him all over. He rolled over on his back for belly rubs.

15-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/15/25 11:00 Per volunteer: I used a toy to leash Oriole and he was jumping a lot in the kennel. He walked with a mild pull. He was treat motivated and was biting my pockets. If not given a treat quickly, he would jump and nip. He had lots of energy and tried to take my water bottle. He took a while to leash to leave the yard, even with toys. He pulled towards the dogs in kennels but was able to unleash without issue.

13-MAY-25 - Behavior - 05/13/25 14:39 Oriole was jumping in the kennel until handed a toy then chewed it while being leashed. He carried it to the yard, pulling in all directions. Oriole mostly played with toys. After some time, he approached CR on the bench and allowed petting while remaining calm. Anytime he approached CR standing, he became overstimulated, jumping and mouthing nonstop until pulled away by the leash. Oriole attempted to snatch toys out of CRs hand. In the catch pen to leave, Oriole started leash biting. He walked back pulling heavily towards the kennels and frequently mouthed the leash. The leash was removed quickly while he drank water in the kennel. -CR

13-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/13/25 16:28 - Oriole greeted staff at kennel door with a loose body and wagging tail. Upon offering leash, wasable to leash Oriole without a toy after he did a couple of little hops. Straight out of the kennel oriole jumped up multiple times on to staff mouth open but was easily redirected and pulled down. Walking Oriole attempted to jump on staff multiple times but was agin easily redirected. He attempted to open doors as he passed them and jumped up to peer through any windows while walking with a medium to hard pull. In yard Oriole played with every single toy staff put out for him. At times Oriole would get jumpy with staff but was again easily redirected with a toy or staff pushing him down with leash. He did steal the phone out of staffs hand when taking pictures, but was able to recover it quickly by offering a toy instead. He allowed pets all over with a loose body and wagging tail and solicited it once or twice. Walking back Oriole was calmer not attempting to open any of the doors and was very easy to unleash.

13-MAY-25 - Interact - 05/13/25 16:37 - Oriole ran to the front of his kennel when approached and began jumping up on the gate while barking. He was somewhat difficult to leash, though he did not attempt to leash bite while taking out of the kennel. He ran out of his kennel and jumped up on the handler before redirecting and trying to charge his neighbor, Tom. When pulled away he focused on the rope toy the handler brought with and carried it for the rest of his walk. He walked with a moderate pull and would attempt to run at dogs he passed in the kennel. Out iin the AD play yard, he initially ran around and played with the variety of toys set out for him, however when another dog was brought into the neighboring yard he became agitated and began frantically pacing and jumping up on the fenceline while whining and barking. Oriole could not be recalled with toys, and eventually had to be leashed when he jumped on top of one of the benches and tried to stand up on the fence. When passing the other AD yard on the way out, the other dog approached through the fence and Oriole immediately became barrier reactive, barking and lunging. He walked back to his kennel with a strong pull and attempted once again to run at dogs as he passed them in the kennel, though he gave no issues releasing back into his own kennel and was easy to lock in. - LB

28-APR-25 - Behavior - 04/28/25 16:12 Oriole reported as mouthy behavior increasing to leash biting. DJ approached kennel and upon initial leash attempt, DJ waited for all four paws on ground before attempting to leash, at which point Oriole bit leash but dropped it within a few seconds. DJ then presented Oriole with a rope toy and was able to loop leash while he focused on toy. Oriole then exited kennel and carried toy all the way to play yard. Once in yard, Oriole explored a bit before dropping the toy to sniff out other toys and the yard in general. When DJ called him over, he would pick up a toy and come over for attention, but did not want to drop the toy. If given the option to swap toys to fetch, Oriole would then drop the toy easily. Later Oriole approached DJ when called without a toy and leaned in and was quick to mouth hands while petting. Was able to break behavior with a verbal correction and then DJ got pet focused on a toy again. When leaving yard, DJ got Oriole to take the rope toy again and walk out of the yard. Oriole initially carried the toy with him but then dropped it and decided to pull towards dogs in kennel as we passed, did not want toy when presented again. Once back in kennel, DJ was able to remove leash easily, then Oriole got focused on barking at new neightbor dog as DJ closed the gate. -DJ SMUFS sign placed advised to have toy present when leashing.

28-APR-25 - Interact - 04/28/25 14:32 - Oriole often will not move in and out of his kennel runs for cleaning (air/lip licking, rolling over, tip-tail wagging, nervous peeing), and so needs to be taken out and walked around. He is easy to leash initially but exits the kennel jumping up roughly and attempting to leash bite, and can get mouthy with staff. This morning, Oriole jumped up in an attempt to leash bite and caught the handler's elbow, but did not break skin. Wellness was informed. - LB

27-APR-25 - Interact - 04/26/25 Per volunteer: Oriole was easy to leash and he came out with a strong pull. He had a pretty strong pull along the way to the yard and towards some of the dogs, but didn't seem to react to any. In the yard, Oriole ran straight for the toys. He grabbed one and ran around the yard with it. He was friendly and allowed for all pets from head to tail, but did not seek them out. Instead, he enjoyed playing lots of fetch. In the garden, he climbed the waterfall and zoomed around the yard. He matched my energy level. Oriole is treat motivated and knows how to sit for and take his treats gently, but can be a little pushy. Oriole can also be a little mouthy and jumpy but stops when told "no" with a firm tone. Oriole had a strong pull on the return but was easy to unleash.

24-APR-25 - Behavior - 4/23/25 Oriole was easy to leash when holding the leash low. He immediatey began jumping on CR when he exited the kennel and was kepy off by the leash. He walked the rest of the way to the yard with a heavy pull. There were two volunteers in the yard as well. Oriole maintained loose posture and mostly played with toys. He was fitted with a new collar and he kept rolling around and jumping when trying to put it on. Oriole became fixated on one volunteers treat pouch and started biting and pulling it. CR had to pull him away and redirect to the toys. He would jump and try to snatch treats, not responding to "sit". There were multiple instances of him jumping and nipping the volunteers and being difficult to redirect. When walking him to the door to leave, he kept pulling towards the volunteers, jumping towards them, and would mouth them if he could reach. He started mouthing the leash. He walked with a pull going back and was unleashed with clip to slip. -CR

23-APR-25 - Interact - 4/22/25 Per volunteer: Oriole had a hard pull when walking to the garden. He was reactive towards barking dogs and ignored the quiet ones. Once in the garden, he was very energetic. He had the zoomies throughout our time but often came over enthusiastic for pets. He got mouthy on my treat pouch a few times. He walked easier on the way back.

20-APR-25 - Interact - 04/20/25 16:09 Upon approaching his kennel, Oriole approached the kennel calmly at first, then he began jumping around at the gate. I had to wait a bit before he calmed down enough to try and leash him. It took some time and he was leash biting a bit but I was able to leash him and remove him from his kennel. He immediately tried to bee line it but I was able to gain control. Very hyper and kept flipping and jumping and pulling towards the other dogs. Once we made it to the play yard, I had to have some help restraining him so we could get a leash on him. He ran straight into the play yard to the toys where he seemed to favor tennis balls the most. We played with the two tennis balls for a bit until he got tired. He did some treat training where his goal was to sit and also climb the obstacle stand. It took him some time, but he was eventually able to receive his treat rewards. We used a clip to slip and began to return to the kennel. He began pulling towards other dogs so it was a bit of a challenge to get him back in his kennel, but after a few moments I was able to unleash him and unlock his kennel. AW
