03-SEP-25 - Interact - 09/03/25 15:40 - Palmetto stood at the front of his kennel with relaxed body, open mouth, and still tail, and was easy to leash. He charged out of kennel and walked with a very hard pull out to the play yard, where he explored with a high tail wag. He did not solicit attention, but was instead fixated on people passing the yard, and began pacing the fence with a flagged tail and hackles raised when another dog entered the neighboring yard, but was otherwise non-reactive. He was easily leashed and walked out of the yard, and continued to have a very strong pull back to his kennel. He was easy to release and lock back in. - LB

28-AUG-25 - Note - Pawdition parent mentioned that Palmetto was very pleasant during his stay with them. Palmetto loves treats and showed interest in toys as well, no resource guarding was displayed, at least to the humans that he encountered. Pawdition parent mentioned that they could place their hand on any item food or otherwise and Palmetto had no issues. They did not take him around cats or dogs. The family will not adopt due to potential medical concerns that they will not be able to financially support.

20-AUG-25 - Foster - 08/20/25 12:45 Foster Note: Palmetto has been amazing!! Fully house trained, does great in the car, he gets skeptical around new people but once he is comfortable, all he wants to do is play and be loved on. He has lots of energy, loves to go for a run and immediately take a nap right after. He’s getting better at not pulling so much on our walks. When he sees other dogs he’s curious about them and tries to pull himself to where they. He listens to corrections and still learning basic commands like sit and lay down but we’re getting there with treats! He’s met an adult female dog and a puppy and was so gentle playing with them! Palmetto is great with my toddler, seems to know his boundaries as far as not getting too excited when they play and gives her space. He follows me around the house and was patient when I gave him a bath. Overall I really do think he would be a great family pet for someone willing to give him their time! mw

07-AUG-25 - Interact - 08/07/25 13:56 Per volunteer: Palmetto was easy to leash and he came out with a strong to moderate pull and ignored other dogs along the way to the yard. He did a little independent exploring once he entered the yard. Palmetto he allowed for all pets from head to tail numerous times throughout the visit. He became increasingly playful as the visit wore on, playing with lots of toys, shaking them, and throwing them into the air to himself. He rolled around on his back a few times for belly rubs, and eventually laid down in the breeze of the fan. Palmetto was easy to return to and unleash in his kennel.

04-AUG-25 - Interact - 7/31/25 Per volunteer: Palmetto was easily leashed; ignoring neighbors as he exited. He stopped for a moment as I answered a couple questions about him from a citizen. He walked with a moderate pull to the yard, ignoring dogs and a crowd at the back. He explored the yard; then came to me for pets. He chased a few toys and was gentle taking a few treats during training. He explored the garden, staying mostly on the far side in the shade, playing among the plants and under the trees. He came up often for pets. He walked with a mild pull going back to his kennel.

22-JUL-25 - Interact - 7/19/25 Per volunteer: When I approached Palmetto, he was waiting quietly in his kennel. I was able to leash him easily, but as soon as I opened the door he pulled with an unexpected burst of energy and was difficult to walk to the play yard as he wanted to run and it was a struggle to keep him under control. Once we got into the play yard, he completely ignored me and sniffed around. Then he noticed a dog in the other play yard and they seemed very interested in each other and both watched where the other went. He and the other dog eventually met at the gate and sniffed each other without issue. He spent the rest of our time watching where the other dog went and ignored the toys and me. He walked a little better on leash on the way back to the kennel but still pulled. Was able to get him back into his kennel without issue and he didn't want any treats.

14-JUL-25 - Interact - 7/10/25 Per volunteer: Palmetto was easy to leash and walk to the yard. He explored the yard; then came up to me for a few pets. He stayed close as we walked around the yard, getting frequent pets. He greeted another dog through the fence. He showed interest in the pool, putting his paw in a couple times. He briefly showed some playfulness with a squeaky toy toward the end, running up after I threw it to nudge it around with his nose. He ended by laying down in the shade to get more pets as he rested with his eyes closed. He walked by my side back to his kennel.

27-JUN-25 - Interact - 06/27/25 16:01 Per volunteer: Palmetto was easy to leash and he came out with a very strong pull and pulled heavily on the way to the yard. He was not reactive towards the other dogs along the way. Initially Palmetto did not seek attention from the two volunteers in the yard. Over time, he warmed up quite a bit and allowed for all pets from head to tail. He romped about and chased after several toys, but did not return with any. He knows how to accept his treats gently. Towards the end of the visit, Palmetto laid down in the breeze of the fan and rolled around on his back. Palmetto stayed close by the two volunteers throughout most of the visit. He had a strong pull on the return, but was easy to unleash his kennel.

12-JUN-25 - Interact - 06/12/25 Per volunteer: Palmetto was barking as I approached his kennel. When I showed him the leash he quieted down and was easily secured. He ran out hard and did not react to the neighboring dogs we walked past. He walked with a loose body posture and a moderate pull, occasionally stopping to sniff and relieve himself. Once in the play yard, he roamed around on his own exploring. He wasn’t very interested in toys. He would sniff at them and then walk away. I sat down on the bench and he came over and allowed petting all over. He was returned to his kennel and unleashed without issues.
