Animal comment
Yuso is potty trained and good with kids. He tends to pull on leash, especially towards other animals but walks better in a harness. Yuso does well for baths and enjoys being pet. .

22-APR-26 - Note - 04/22/26 Per previous owner: Yuso did well with kids aged 7-9 and was well behaved and appropriate with new people coming into the house with him. Yuso did not bark. They did not take him out in public. When walking on leash, he pulled, especially towards wildlife, cats, and dogs. He walked better with a harness. Yuso was not around other animals in the home. They did not have Yuso in a crate but they left him on the screened in patio when home alone so he would not get on the furniture. Yuso is potty trained and enjoys attention and petting. He needed help getting into the tub but was well behaved for baths. -CR

15-APR-26 - Interact - 04/15/26 9:00 Yuso was standing at the front of his kennel when staff approached. Staff opened the kennel door and attempted to leash him, where Yuso began jumping up at the door, barking, and mouthing the leash and staffs hand. Staff left his kennel and returned with treats to try treat-to-leash, where Yuso began to be avoidant of the leash. MM 04/15/26 9:45 When staff approached Yuso's kennel he was standing at the front with a high wagging tail. He jumped onto the kennel door and began barking when staff opened the kennel door, but quickly calmed and was easy to leash. Once out of the kennel he began jumping up at staff. Staff was able to redirect him to continue walking. He began to pull hard, so staff transitioned him to a feild harness where he shook a few times before he was willing to walk on it, where he pulled much less. Yuso walked around the parking lot, he was uninterested in walking in the grass or leaves, and would plant his feet to stay on the concrete. Yuso walked with a slight pull back to his kennel, where he was easy to unleash. MM

09-APR-26 - Interact - 04/09/2026 16:00 Yuso had excited body language as he stood at his kennel door when the volunteer walked up and easily leashed him. He stood on his back legs with his front paws on their chest in a friendly manner trying to get pets before doing that to another staff member close by as well. He had a hard pull towards the play yard and sat for a few treats along the way where he calmed down before the volunteer continued to walk him to the play yard. He explored the yard and came up for pets. Yuso chased after a few toys, climbed the jungle gym, and started to lick the volunteer sitting there on the face before exploring the yard again. He played around the yard and then sat on a bench. The volunteer sat next to him and Yuso leaned over to place his paws on their lap while getting pets. He was very affectionate and calmly walked around the parking lot before going back to his kennel. DR

07-APR-26 - Note - 04/04/26 14:19 Yuso was surrendered due to owner being evicted and not being able to care for the animal anymore. Yuso is very energetic. He loves car rides and likes to play with squeeky toys. Yuso is a big fan of bell rubs and gets along well with children and adults.-AP

11-FEB-26 - Interact - 02/11/26 16:33 Yuso immediately ran out from the interior of his kennel when staff approached. He began barking and pawing at the kennel. Once leashed Yuso jumped at staff and stopped once staff held the leash firmly at a distance. He walked to the yard with a moderate pull. Once in the yard Yuso was not interested in any toys. He sat for treats and took them gently from staff. He allowed pets all over and jumped on the bench to sit by staff. For the remainder of his time out Yuso continued to get pets from staff occasionally nuzzling his head towards staff. Yuso was returned to his kennel with no issues. -JG

09-FEB-26 - Interact - 02/09/26 14:21 Yuso was laying in his bed when staff approached. He quickly got up to come to the gate and began barking loudly while jumping on the gate. It took a few seconds to leash him as he kept jumping up and quickly moving his head. As soon as he was leashed and out of the kennel he jumped on the staff and muzzle punched them in the face. Staff was able to get him to stop by shortening the leash and extending their arms far away from their body. After a short walk the staff decided to place him back in his kennel instead of bringing him to yard. He was easily placed back in his kennel. -ZM

04-FEB-26 - Interact - 01/31/26 Per volunteer: Yuso was laying in the back half of his kennel when I approached. When I squatted down he turned his head and approached. He was easy to leash. I took him for a walk first and he stayed next to me most of the way. He stopped a few times during the walk for treats and affection which he allowed on all spots. We went to the play yard where Yuso continued to solicit affection and treats. He did know sit. On the way back to his kennel, Yuso ignored all the other dogs and had a moderate pull. He was easy to unleash.

04-FEB-26 - Interact - 02/04/26 13:17 When staff approached Yuso's kennel, he was laying down on his bed inside but then walked out to the gate. He was easy to leash and once he was out, he tried to jump up onto the staff member. He was redirected easily with the leash, and he walked with a moderate pull to the front yard. He walked around the yard on his own briefly before coming over to the staff member to solicit attention. He accepted pets all over for several minutes with loose body posture. He leaned into the staff member's legs a couple times, and sat down next to them while he was being petted. Yuso walked back to his kennel with a moderate walk and was easily returned. -DW

29-JAN-26 - Interact - 1/25/26 Per volunteer: Yuso had loose posture at his kennel when I approached. He was easy to leash. There was mild pull on the way to the yard. Once there, Yuso just wanted affection. He was quite content to sit there and receive pets any and everywhere. He didn't explore, play or anything else. I took him for a walk. Several times during the walk, Yuso stopped for more pets. After exploring the scent garden, I had no trouble returning Yuso to his kennel.

28-JAN-26 - Interact - 01/28/26 16:26 was easy to leash and had decent pull and jumped up on staff multiple times when first coming out of kennel. In play yard solicited attention from staff with loose posture. Saw another dog in play yard next to him and became over fixated on dog so staff took him back to kennel. LM

26-JAN-26 - Interact - 1/20/26 Per volunteer: Yuso was easy to leash and walk to the garden. He walked around sniffing and exploring; while never getting too far from me. He came up to lean on me for a few pets several times. I sat on a bench and he jumped up beside me to sit close for a while getting pets and relaxing together. He did well in training on sit, stay and recall, taking treats gently. We took a long walk in the lot where Yuso stayed close, occasionally sniffing. He was calm passing a couple cats laying still near cars. He stood calmly beside me as I spoke with another volunteer; then walked well back to his kennel.

24-JAN-26 - Interact - 01/24/26 14:25 Yuso was waiting at the exterior kennel gate when approached by staff. He was easy to leash and walked with a mild pull. He was a little jumpy at first when exiting the kennel but stopped quickly. No reactivity to passing kennels/dogs. Once in the yard Yuso solicited attention right away from staff. Came when called and allowed pets all over. He showed some interest in toys. Yuso would chase toys thrown but not retrieve. Seemed more interest in the tennis ball than stuffed squeakers. Yuso knew how to sit for treats which he accepted gently. Rest of time in the yard was spent soliciting attention from staff. Easy to kennel. - AH

23-JAN-26 - Foster - 01/22/26 11:18 - foster feedback He is really starting to unwind. He “rushed” through all his walks till this morning, but started to sniff and really enjoy the walk today. He is a doll in the house! He helps me drive my daughter to school every morning and has made a lot of friends at the school. He lets me play with his ears, pet his tail, clean his eye boogers and clean his paws. I am respectful of course, but he allows handling very well. His stress is decreasing and his personality starting to shine. He is a great walking and jogging buddy! He loves to use his nose: shuffle mats, puzzles, hide and seek MC

21-JAN-26 - Foster - 01/21/26 11:18 - foster feedback Thank you for trusting me and my daughter with Yuso! First evening went very well. He is a sweet, affectionate and goofy dog. He is a great house guest, appears to be well potty trained, takes food and treats gently and is an all around lovely boy! He is heavy and a bit clumsy, so he would do best with kids who are old enough or experienced, just so they don’t get knocked over accidentally. My daughter is only 8, but has always been around big dogs, so we are doing well. Yuso seems awkward around other dogs. We have had 2 walks yesterday and one this morning, passed several dogs successfully. He seems unsure of how to communicate ( gets excited and a bit stiff) so I have not yet allowed him to greet a dog. He is very easily redirected, despite his size and strength. He begged to lay by my feet last night and I let him, only to wake up a bit later being VERY tightly cuddled by him He did wonderful overnight, no fuss and no accidents. Seems to bond quickly, follows us everywhere in the house. He is a great candidate to become a wonderful pet! MC
