01-APR-26 - Interact - 04/01/26 17:33 Kangaroo was displaying loose body language when staff approached his kennel. He jumped twice at the kennel door before staff began unlocking it. Once unlocked he stayed put and allowed for easy leashing. He walked with a heavy pull to the yard. Once in the yard he sniffed around for a while and then returned to staff to solicit pets all over. He didn't take any treats offered by staff and instead continued to solicit attention from staff. The walk back to his kennel was better than before as he did not pull and allowed for an easy return into his kennel. -JG

31-MAR-26 - Foster - 03/31/26 12:21 Adventure tail: Another sweet boy. Little more reserved and could use a lil confidence. Bet if he gets an older doggy sibling he would really benefit. He was very animated and barked and whimpered whenever we saw another dog. I don’t know that it’s reactivity as much as he really wants to play. That was the biggest behavior noted overall. He wasn’t super comfortable in the car and opted to lay on the floorboards of the backseat. I was able to reach back and give him head scratches to make him feel at ease. He wanted to walk more than relax which was fine. When we did relax I was able to give lots of love. Tons of pets and positive affirmations. He looked so flipping relaxed. Such a good boy.

30-MAR-26 - Interact - 03/27/26 Per volunteer: Kangaroo came to the gate wagging. He jumped and pawed once or twice but then got down and was easy to leash. He went to the yard with a strong pull, trying to run at full speed. He sniffed around the yard and then came over for pets on his head, shoulders and back. He accepted a treat but put it down and went off to continue sniffing. When he finished sniffing, he came back over, jumped onto the bench where I was sitting and gave me a few kisses. He then leaned in for more pets on his head, shoulders, neck and back, but seemed to like them best on his neck right under his chin. He watched people walking around in the other yards and wagged if they said hello to him. He was easy to leash and went back to his kennel with a moderate pull.

26-MAR-26 - Interact - 03/23/26 Kangaroo placed his head in the leash and walked with a mild pull to the yard, calmly passing dogs. He ran up to me, sitting for a treat; then took off to explore the yard. He’d run back for pets; then run off again. He jumped up on the ramp, taking treats and making entertaining faces as I took photos. I sat on the ramp with him, giving him pets; while he gave me some gentle licks on my cheek. He did well on sit, stay and recall, gently taking treats. He got excited at squeaky toys, showing no further interest in playing with them. He ran and played all over the garden, jumping up on rocks and playing on the waterfall. He would sometimes “army crawl” toward me with tail wagging to receive pets. He did well on a walk in the lot, ignoring another dog and just glancing at cats. He walked well back to his kennel and was easy to unleash.

26-MAR-26 - Interact - 03/25/26 When staff came over to Kangaroos kennel, he was jumping at the gate but settled down when staff presented him with the leash. Kangaroo settled at the gate and was able to be leashed with no issue. Kangaroo was jumping and running around as soon as he walked out of the kennel, while also running over to the other dogs kennels, barking and trying to bite at them through the gate. Staff was able to pull him away and redirect him to the back parking lot. As kangaroo was being walked through the back parking lot he did see a few other dogs also walking past. Kangaroo would whimper as he saw them and tried to pull as hard as he could to get them. Staff would keep him away, but as they kept walking Kangaroo would look back at the dog and continued to whimper. Eventually Kangaroo would forget about them and focused on his walk again. Kangaroo would randomly and harshly pulled as he walked as if something quickly grabbed his attention, thne focused on the walk again. The walk back to his kennel was much calmer as he was not as reactive as before and he walked into his kennel with no problem. zw

24-MAR-26 - Interact - 03/19/26 Per volunteer: Kangaroo came to the gate wagging and bouncing. He jumped high once or twice, but then got down and was easy to leash. He went to the yard with a strong pull. He sniffed around the yard with relaxed posture and his tail straight down. He came over when his name was called, for pets and treats, and then stood and just sniffed the breeze. We went for a short walk in the parking lot. He walked easily on the leash with just a slight pull, and then went back to his kennel without issues.

18-MAR-26 - Interact - 03/16/26 Per volunteer: Kangaroo came to the gate and jumped very high once or twice, but then put all 4 paws on the ground and was easy to leash. He ran out of his kennel at full speed, but then slowed when he was out of the area around his kennel and went to the play yard with just a moderate pull. He sniffed halfway around the yard and then came over for pets. He stood for pets all over, on his head, neck, back, shoulders and behind his ears. Then he finished sniffing around the rest of the yard and came back over for more pets. He stayed standing for pets for the rest of the play time, with loose posture and his tail hanging straight down or sometimes wagging slowly. He was easy to leash and went back to his kennel with just a slight pull.

11-MAR-26 - Interact - 03/11/26 15:42 When staff came over to kangaroos kennel he was jumping at the gate, but once staff opened the kennel door while presenting the leash Kangaroo settled down. He stood there and waited as staff leashed him up and walked him out of the kennel. On the walk towards the back parking lot staff noticed that Kangaroo was pulling great amount to the point of choking himself. Staff took the moment to harness wrap him. As the walk continued, Kangaroo was much more calm as he was walking close to staff and at an even pace. The walk remained calm for a majority of the walk until Kangaroo saw another staff member walking a dog in the opposite direction. Kangaroo began to bark, whimper and pull towards the dog. Staff was able to walk Kangaroo to another direction, but Kangaroo kept their attention on the dog while continuing whimper and barking towards the dog he saw. Eventually he did give up on trying to reach the dog and the walk back to his kennel was the same as before; walking into his kennel with no issue. zw

27-FEB-26 - Interact - 02/21/26 Per volunteer: Kangaroo was easy to leash with no pulling from kennel to yard and yard to kennel. Mild interest shown while passing other kennels with wagging tail. In the yard, Kangaroo focused on exploring and sniffing; briefly checked toys but showed limited interest. Very people-oriented and gentle with passersby, accepting treats calmly. Overall appeared more interested in human connection than toys, with a calm and friendly demeanor.

11-FEB-26 - Interact - 02/11/26 13:04 When staff approached Kangaroo's kennel, he was jumping up and down by the kennel door. When staff unlocked the kennel door and went to leash Kangaroo, he held still which made it easy to leash him. On the walk to the play yard, Kangaroo pulled towards other dog's kennels but only to sniff them. Kangaroo had a moderate pull to the play yard and once in the yard, he sniffed around before coming up to staff for attention. Staff instructed Kangaroo to sit but he did not seem to understand so they patiently kept trying to teach him the command and eventually he understood and sat for a treat. Kangaroo sat by staff for a while to recieve pets and back scratches until a dog went into the neighboring yard. He then ran over to the fence and started pacing and whining. After a few more minutes in the yard, staff walked Kangaroo back to his kennel and had no issues getting him in and unleashig him. RP
